Where'd you put your brake controller?

On my last rig there was a nice place to put the brake controller that was high and almost in line of sight beside the main instruments - almost looked like a factory set up.

I can't seem to find a spot on the Expedition that I like.

Where'd you put yours? Are you happy with it or would you put it somewhere else next time?

Btw, really happy with how the Expedition pulled my Starcraft 11RT. Plenty of go with the 5.4. I need to get the trailer brakes going though. Really missed them - it was the only part of the old tow rig that was worth a damn.

On my 01 I have the brake controller sitting over the ash try and held down with
ty-wraps

I don't have an ashtray... same as the pull out cup holder on the centre console?

Not sure for your setup, but my second gen has a big center console. I used command velcro strips to attach mine to the side of the console at a slight angle for asthetic reasons. with the command strips, I can relocate it anytime without leaving any nasty holes or glue behind.

Mine is in the little opening to the lower right of the steering wheel. There was a little open bay, I had to drill a hole in the back for the harness, but it fit right in beautifully, and looks stock.

And the 5.4 pulls my 29' travel trailer just fine. You can probably pass me going uphill, but it pulls it great.

Ha! I don't have an opening on that panel in that location - it's all smooth there. I'll get on ebay and see about getting a new kick panel.

Mine is a Tow Package from the factory, that is probably why. Factory package still had you add your own controller. They may have put it there for this purpose.

I'll check into that. I have the factory tow package (ran the VIN) but not that panel. Maybe it was an extra option. I'll find out.

If you haven't gotten a controller yet, the Prodigy P2 I have there is really nice, a good price, and really easy to use, and installs with a stock harness into the wiring in your vehicle.

And I ran that trailer, do you really need a brake controller with that? I towed a similar 1976 Viking Lil Gasser with my old jeep no problems, I would think the Expy would own the 11RT.

The brake controller is cheap insurance and I will need one once I get a race car trailer.

I have a P3 in my Jeep that I'm thinking about transferring to the Expedition.

FWIW, this is where I put it on my XJ. Nice and high and easy to see and use at a glance. I was hoping there might be somewhere similar in the Expedition short of drilling into the top of the dash. Some kind of a missing/hidden cubby...
