I just bought an 07 Expy EL LTD and it has the powered rear hatch. It sometimes has a "whine" when its closing. I put my hand on the lift rod (not the hydraulic assist) and I can clearly feel it vibrating.

Clearly, it needs some sort of lubrication. Anybody run into this before and how did you fix?

Thanks!
Chris

What I have been told and what I have been able to find on the web is you have to remove the entire motor and rod assembly from the rear access panel in order to reapply lubricant to the screw rod inside the telescoping housing. The rubber wiper seal towards the top of the telescoping rod prevents adding anything from the top. Breaking this seal will cause more issues that you don't want to deal with.
