window lifter

last fall something in my door broke and the window would slide down on its own. i took it apart to find the glass lost its bond to the steel of the "lifter" so i used an epoxy. it worked for a while. after a while it failed. there is a plastic piece that detached from the lifter and will not go back on. i assume i have to buy a whole lifter device. would anyone know what i need? if need be, i will be working on the opposite door today and can post a pic.

It sounds like the window regulator. Your cheapest bet would be a junk yard. I'm pretty sure Ford will want to sell it as a whole assembly (motor + regulator).
