How do you know if the window regulator needs replacing or if the window just needs to be reset in the guides and reglued? I reset the window in the guides and about half way down the window tilts forward a bit, is this a sign that the regulator is the failing part?
Thank you. 99 expedition.

If you remove the door panel and the rain shield you should be able to watch the window go up and down It could be something is loose or the regulator You also can reach inside and get a feel if the regulator is failing

Interested in this too. One time this summer the drivers window tilted forward a little. I pulled it back into alignment and it has been fine ever since.

My driver's window doesn't always raise fully into its channel (at the top of the door/window) by maybe 1/2". And when it seats in the channel, it does so with a super loud "BANG" sound. Always makes me jump. Happens 1 out of every 10 times. I need to pay more attention to it to see if I should address...

I'm wondering if the tilted window could be a sign of worn attaching points (bushings) in the bracket that attaches to the glass or in the mechanism/arm. Window "fuzzies" (rubber/felt on either side of the window) can wear out too, causing enough play to allow a window to tilt inward.

Lower the window about half way and then grab the top of the window and move it front to back and up and down You should not have any play in the window if you do then I would suggest you replace the window regulator. If you do replace the regulator you need to be very careful when removing the motor from the regulator as the spring has tension on it and can cause some serious injury if your hand or fingers are in the wrong place Learned that the hard way.

Than you all for the responses. Today I changed both window regulators, used a two part epoxy to adhere the glass into the guides and all is working fine. The biggest challenge was finding the right spot for the guides to adhere to the glass. You just have to make sure you try the window up and down a few times before adhering the glass with the epoxy.
