Anyone know where I can get the metal portion of both drivers side doors molding inserts (drivers door has keypad). These appear that they could just be removed and slide a new one in, but the dealerships are saying have to replace the entire molding piece at a whopping $290.... Any advice is appreciated.

I doubt you can get just the trim piece new. If you can clean them up enough I had mine vinyl covered black(they are chrome on the Navigators and I just wanted the black look on a black truck) for $40 for all four doors.

Looks like someone painted them with some cheap paint already ? (Used car lot ?). I would just take 'em off and remove all that crap paint and then prime 'em and repaint with some Rustoleum Performance Matte Black paint (Home Depot). I did that on one of my other trucks and it's held up really well and still looks good. They are just matte black from the factory. Just takes a little time to do it right.

That came out pretty good. I don't know why I didn't think about that. I almost tried that before I had mine vinyled over.

Looks good. How many coats of plastidip did you put? I recommend using the glossifier also to add some sort of protection and shine.

you can buy just the trim...cheapest will be pulling from junkyard...next is putting the part number in ebay and buying them there...I bought the 3M sills and door handle inserts for my truck...came out nice once the cure...even on my back window...I will have them painted to match when I get new paint

Anyone know how to remove them? Do they just pop off or should I tape off and paint them on the truck? Sorry to hijack but I have the same issue.
