Windshield washer headache

So I try the button on the end of the stalk and nothing happens. The wipers work otherwise on all the variable speeds. Just not the wash/wipe feature. Swapped the two relays and no change. So I took the reservoir off, took the offset two prong plug off the pump, took the hoses off the pump and took the other two prong connector off the reservoir. Cleaned all the contacts and lightly worked the corrosion off the sockets with a flat file. plug the pump into the connector for yuks and low and behold, the wipers work and the pump spins. Put it all back together and nothing. I'm open to any suggestions...

mine has been hit/miss since new and once you find the sweet spot on the stalk, seems to work just about every time....gremlins....

Mine is also like that. Have to massage the button back and forth until you find the right spot as was said.

so - just pushing the button differently? I'm on my second pump and still no washer fluid. Old thread, I know.
