Spartacus, my 2007 Limited Expedition just passed 230,000 miles this week.

I bought it at 85,000 miles for $20,000. Now, at 230,000 miles I have done the following repairs:

1. Seat AC: $110. Soon after purchase in 2011.
2. $400 for Strut at 130,000 miles.
3. $400 for air-blower (front) in 2015. About 150,000 miles.
4. $600 for water pump in 2016. About 180,000 miles.$600 for water pump in 2016. About 180,000 miles.
5. Spark plugs, 2018. $400.

The vehicle is mostly driven on highways in NM, Az, CA and to El Paso.

Gas: Mostly 86 octane.
Oil: Always Mobil 1 at 6,000 or 7,000 miles.

Gas mileage: ALmost always over 18 MPG. On one trip from CA to NM I got 17.5 and that was before the new plugs were put in. Obvious that the plugs needed changing as it ran rough. Drive it at 65 mph and you'll get 19+. Best I ever got was 21 from Albuquerque to Flagstaff-calculated by hand.

Clear Coat peeling off. Oh well.

The car drives, still, very smooth and quiet. I run Bridgestone T/A Ko 2s. Great tires.

So I've put $1500 in it for the last 8 years. I change the oil frequently (5/20W).

Drive it slow and you'll get very good gas mileage.

Nice report. I’m 90,000 miles behind you with my 2007 Expedition at 139,*** miles. I hope mine is as trouble free as yours. I do the oil every 5k miles or so but it’s run in the city most of the time here in California. My avg mpg is 14 overall. We have gotten as good as 23 and as low as 11 mpg.

My 07 is just creeping up on 109,000, nothing terrible yet and hoping it'll stay that way. Loved the report, very detailed!

My 08 just passed 150,000 and so far the only think to fail on it, was a coolant hose and one of the retracting steps!! Been great otherwise, Mobil1 oil and filters used all its life. Glad to hear I can expect another 80,000 miles (at least!!), when I bought it new, my wife told me we would keep it until it dies or I die, whichever occurred first!!

I recently acquired a 2010 EL Limited from my mother, currently at 210,000 miles. lack of maintenance to say the least on her part, but none the less she's owned it since being a demo model purchased in 2011. about a year ago it was backed into by a farmer, needed some front body panels, I figured for the price of 0$ as she gifted it to me, I figured I can give this rig a new life. purchased a 2008 expedition for a parts vehicle for $1000 CAD. piecing together a new front end would have cost me more then the whole parts expy.

Spark plugs have never been changed, along with the coils.

occasionally falls into a low idle RPM, can start to tick, so I know the timing chains are loose/ guides worn out.

could use new struts. (add a level kit while im replacing those.)

radio display has gone blank, but yet all radio functions as it should.

4x4 does not engage the front axles( in dash it illuminates, but no engagement, or clunks, believe the hubs are shot, but cant be sure until I look more into it.)

other then that the expy runs and drives great, I will be addressing these issues in the next few weeks, after that and the expy is running and driving as it should she will be getting a fresh paint job. (cant stand mis-match panel colours)

I'm very familiar with the f150 platform and the 3 valve 5.4 engines. I look forward to seeing just how long it takes to kill this engine. truthfully surprised that it hasn't blown up yet knowing my mother. she has mostly replaced braking components, lots of pads and rotors, and oddly a few brake calipers, rear window latches rusted out and broke, other then terrible scheduled oil changes its a brute and you cannot complain about the space and comfort even after all these miles.

previous 5.4 3 valves owned, 2010 f150 traded in at 125,000 miles, 2004 f150(most plagued engine IMO) was sold with 248,000 miles.

All I can say is these engines are more then capable of reaching very high miles. just gotta understand the beast. Also why I love my 6.0 powerstoke. amazing engines, everyone hates them but I just see that as parts getting cheaper.

That's awesome. My 07 is at 95,000. Nothing big in the way of repairs. This weekend I'm planning on replacing the body mounts (not looking forward to this job at all.) Next project after that will be to start replacing the catalytic converters.

How did you find out the catalytic converters were failing? I have a P0174 code (system too lean - bank 2) and am wondering if one (or more) of the cats are going out.
