    cool, thanks. I got a multimeter and a 12V meter and checked it out and I get no reading at the tail lights. Also, it appears that I was wrong and 4 fuses related to the lights DON'T work, but the fuses themselves are fine, it the slots they are in that don't work....ie, I switched those fuses...

    ......but obviously they are the same bulbs. So, my son's 97 expy has an issue. When you turn the headlights on, they come on, but the tail lamps don't. But if you press on the brakes, the brakes light up so it's not the bulbs nor a wiring problem near the back end. Also, his dash lights don't...

    it's at the bottom at the crank pulley. A little more research and the fact that the truck started squealing has me convinced it is the water pump bearings gone bad. Thanks again

    hey all, my son's 97 expy with 4.6 has a coolant leak (not too bad) and it seems to be coming from whatever is the lowest accessory on the belt. What part is that and why would it be leaking? It is completely dry and green free everywhere else around and above that part. I can't find a 4.6...

    you're not serious are you? Did you pick that up for $750? I've spent $750 just on ball joints...how did you get a whole rest of the truck with that?

    well I'll be damned...it's right there. Even the mechanic that was doing my brakes said there was no way to know how much freon these cars take....you just fill it til it stops. And all we had to do was look at the radiator cover...or ask the good people on this site. Thanks

    Does anybody know from experience about how much freon a 1st gen expy can take if it has been totally emptied? I'm curious about how many cans of this stuff I might need before I proceed. Thanks

    ok so rubbing alcohol, then scotch brite scuffing, then primer and paint. I'm going to start on that next weekend hopefully. My only dilemma is the a/c vents. That is going to be hard because I can't leave them brown if everything else is black

    anybody have any favorite product brands for paints or adhesion promoters? Also, since I want black, I know I don't want gloss but do I need flat or satin?
