Wife's expedition did this once. Hers was a2010. She was on the interstate and it just shut off. Had it towed to a dealer who diagnosed a bad module back near the fuel pump. Don't recall the name of the module (had something to do with fuel but it wasn't the pump itself) or much more about...
Wife backed out of the garage, forgetting back hatch was open. Shattered the glass all over the garage/driveway. She took it to a glass shop to get repaired. We had a good laugh for sure and now she doesn't criticize my driving quite as much.
Check that you don't have anything jamming the rear hatch door and not allowing it to fully close. I had a floor mat in the back that was jamming itself against the door when closing the hatch and wouldn't allow the mechanism to work. No sound of unlocking with the fob. Once I removed the...
I use mine all the time for the same reasons above; that quick trip to retrieve something or put something in without having to go into the house for the keys. Have it on my '98 Lincoln LSC too. Very handy. Not sure I would leave the car running though. Too much temptation for thieves these...
Had the same issue awhile back. Turned out my starter locked up. All I got was a click. Tried jumping and got no response except the click. Charged battery for 30 minutes from other vehicle and no change. Had it towed to the Ford Quick Lane and they said the starter was frozen.
Also, a...
State and Federal gov'ts are addicted to the taxes that gasoline produces so they might have an objection to too many electrics on the road. Sure, they can raise the taxes per gallon to make up the shortfall but that would likely drive many more to going electric.
I'd go electric for a...
If it's a real rough idle, you mayh want to check the the VCT (Variable Cam Timing) solenoids. Easy to change both. Access is through openings on the valve covers towards the front of engine. Do a search for it on this website and you'll find videos showing how-to. Causes misfiring at idle...
My wife's 2010 Expedition is making a short-duration noise when accelerating from a stop. Just a short 1/2 second "chuu" sound. Only does it when accelerating in first gear from a dead stop. Can't tell if it's a metal on metal or a whoosing noise like air entering the throttle body. Can't...
Wife just bought a 2010 Limited EL and we see the paint bubbling on the tailgate. Will do a search on this site but it sounds like a common problem.
She really like the vehicle though. Dealer fixed quite a few things in their 172 point inspection but missed a few things. Had to have the...
My wife's 2005 Expedition is starting to make a screeching noise when the starter engages. Right now, it only does it once, then she tries it again and it starts fine. Happens about once a week.
I have a feeling the flywheel teeth are worn where the starter engages the teeth but not...
Wife's expy just died this morning on the interstate. Turned out to be the module. Would start, run for about 1-2 seconds and die.
Price with tow and front brake job, new module, fuel system cleaning, new fuel filter; less than $1000 at the dealer.
Wife said the rear wiper on her 2005 Expedition quit working last week, just before parking it for 4 days at the airport. When she got home from her trip and went to start it at the airport, the battery was dead. Went out and jumped it and she drove it home last night. Just tried to start it...
Glad to hear you got it fixed. And thanks for the follow-up report!
It seems that the Taurus's had this same issue, according to some owners I've talked to in the past.
Wow! Forgot I posted here.
Traded the Mustang for an 02 Explorer 4x4. Got a good deal so very little out of pocket. The Explorer is high miles but in very nice condition and not one problem in the last 3 months (knock on wood). Just got another 4" of snow today and it's sure is nice to be...
Looking for a daily driver. Needs to be 4 wheel drive. Have a 94 mustang GT convertible auto 5.0 for trade plus cash. Only 64,000 miles on the Mustang.
In the omaha, NE area, within 100 miles or so.
PM or email.
Per usual, not looking for junk or projects. Needs to run and be reliable.
My wife's Expedition is a 2005. Hooking up the boat, we some wiring issues. Went to check the fuse panel and couldn't find the blasted thing. Book says it's below the instrument panel on the right side but I couldn't find any panel that looked like it would pull off.
Help!
I would be interested in the write up also, since the controls on my wife's Expy only works on 4 now. Just started a few days ago. Rear A/C fan works fine.
