The regular gauge is reading normal pressure. It could be clogged. I looked in the oil fill tube and see dry no oil. I have not pulled anything apart yet.
The regular gauge is working. So it leads me to believe that its not the pump. Maybe checking with an external gauge might not hurt.
So what are my options - tearing it apart? or adding something like Marvel Mystery Oil or Lucas products. Also thinking about draining the oil and pouring it...
Ok now its making sense. stamp11127 I will check that with a mechanical oil pressure gauge. and stamp i like the KISS method except lately I have not been using it wisely. no insult taken. I will report tomorrow evening as i work until 5pm
metaldrgn the engine is a 5.4
thanks. keep sending...
I am parked on the drive way. compression test maybe? drain the oil? I just dont know what to do. Hell I might have to get a mechanic involved. about to give up
The engine has about 154000 miles on it. I let it run for about 3 to 5 minutes about 4 times in the last 2 days
I am pretty sure that I got the gaskets on correctly. I had a friend who is a mechanic and we put on the driver side together.
I replaced everything else except those two things. Just not sure if its the oil pump. The noise I hear is coming from that area. The head gaskets are from Felpro and came in a kit for the entire engine.
tonydiv I have never tackled anything like it before. I have not tried the mechanical gauge yet. i would have to go out and get one. I had removed the oil pan and sprayed cleaner in the underside of the engine before putting everything back together. i hit the screen with cleaner really...
The gauge is reading normal. If I completely tore things down to the heads to replace the head gaskets will it require more than the 6 or 7 qts. I just can't see tearing this thing down again.
My dip stick is from the junk yard. I think its shorter than the original. I think I have 6 qts in it, it could be 7. Nothing in the heads and it makes a ticking sound. my neighbor says that the sound is the lifter being dry.
I replaced the head gaskets in my heads. I also put in a new radiator, power steering pump, water pump, new timing belts/tensioners/rails, all new gaskets all the way around.
I fired it up and its making a knocking sound. I checked the dip stick and there is no oil on it. I also put in a...
any more ideas
I really dont want to mail order this tool or pay Snap On, Matco, others high price for one time use. Any other thoughts. Does any body have a good video or pics of actually removing the tube.
I cant seem to find any of this locally and its a simple thing. I have tried several tools without success. The people at Autozone think I am crazy and Advanced is telling me to unscrew it and void the warranty on the new one.
I have a 2003 Expedition and about to replace the radiator. I have the old one all loose except I can''t get the transmission lines to come off the threaded adapters. I have tried several disconnect tools without success. Any ideas?
Here is picture of the line.
I am in the process of tearing an engine down. It seems I have a blown head gasket. I am stuck - it seems that the power steering pump bolts are at an angle and I cant figure out how to get them off. Any ideas?
Any tips or help with the tear down is appreciated.
I have a 2003 Expedition XLT. I went to replace the puddle lamp and found that the bulb disintegrated when I removed the socket from the housing. The socket and hole where the bulb goes is partially oblonged from the heat. I am wondering if these modules are sold separtely. I have looked and...
