Hello my name is mark I'm from Canada, Winnipeg Manitoba to be specific. I'm new to expeditions but not new to fords I hope to gain some knowledge and learn more about my vehicle.

This particular expedition has a bit of history behind it, it was owned by a local police officer and it was actually used for investigations, there are kill switches inside that can cut off certain lights or all the lights depending on how you want it, even the brake lights don't light up when the brakes are pressed, totally useless for me but kind of cool none the less. It might come in handy if I want to move the vehicle around at night if we are camping lol but that's the only time I think they would get used.

The vehicle was a bone stock 01 xlt with 330xxx kms, and was maintained very well, after taking it home and doing some up close inspecting I noticed a good amount of rust that was right through the metal on the bottom rockers, the cause of this was the running boards, the area behind the plastic toe/kick plate was completely rotten with rust where the area in front of it was still shiny and new. My guess is that the area in front was always regularly washed, and the area behind the kick plate was never washed because it was always covered, and the running board helped the snow and and salt build up and collect on the underside.

I Got rid of the running boards, cut out all the rust, welded in new metal, seam sealed and rust proofed the underside, did allot of maintenance and did some cosmetic stuff, and I'm pretty happy with the end result. I think I got a steal of a deal, I paid 1600 for the truck and it received service every 3000 kms by a government mechanic.

I am posting before/after pics I have from my phone, I'm horrible at taking pics and re sizing etc so please excuse them! Also the last pic was taken tonight after I painted the lugnut covers and installed the vent visors, so day pics of how it looks currently will be up shortly.

Picked up some goodies for the expedition today, I painted my stock corner lamps with amber stained glass paint to get the heritage look, but I bought some clears with led amber bulbs to switch up whenever I get bored, I put in a k&n drop in filter before I even registered the truck so I don't know what the K&n is like over stock, if anyone can give some insight on that I would appreciate it.

I picked up a volant cool air intake today, the price was too good to pass up, I'm excited to see if there will be Any gains felt from it. The quality is top notch im impressed with the workmanship.

Welcome, fellow Canuck. Adding Manitoba to the checklist of provinces represented on the forum. We're only missing Sask, the territories and the maritimes :)

Awesome looking expy, btw. Looks very clean and I like the police style black mags with silver center caps yoy had going. That's how I plastidipped mine too.
