IL reciprocates exactly 0 CCL.CO has reciprocity in 36 states- IL not being one of them.
I got a simple leather IWB holster (old Uncle Mike's open bottom 1911) and slid the clip in between the trim panels on the dash next to the steering column...
USM thanks for the pics, I'm trying to go the same route as your wife's explorer except I want it mounted closer to the belt buckle clip, ressesed below the seat cushion so it's not visible even with me not sitting there, plus I can engage it by pretended to be attempting to unbuckle myself
IL reciprocates exactly 0 CCL.
Only thing I'd change would be using a retention holter in that setup. A wreck or hard bump could turn it into a projectile...
Fair enough. I usually leave mine on my hip so that I can draw and unbuckle at the same time, and the retention on it is strong enough that my buddy was able to pick me up by the pistol. It is quite sturdy and holds better than you would imagine; the top looks loose but the lower portion is quite snug. That holster does have a retention strap, I choose to not utilize it.
To each his own; I won't dictate how someone else chooses to mount theirs. Well, not as long as its safe for all involved. Don't get me started on shoulder holsters.
