I was taking the camper out last weekend and had to get it hooked up to the truck. I don't have a backup camera and no one else was home. After a couple of unsuccessful tries I realized that I could control my camera with my iPod or iPhone. I wrapped the wrist strap around the tailgate handle and through one of the legs of the tripod. It worked great.

Ha! Hey, my GoPro does the same thing! lol

I actually use a 60$ amazon backup camera system and has proven invaluable, for this purpose among many!
