Own a 2000 Eddy Bauer. After all these years, I noticed a mystery device. Metal cylinder about 12 in long, Inside LR frame rail below gas filler. Two cables. Could anyone share his wisdom with me?

Sounds like it's your EVAP canister. I don't recall mine being another color besides black. Maybe mine was already replaced before I purchased her.
