Fuelly is a good site to see what others are getting.

Personally my bone stock 2007 gets 13-15 daily suburban driving. On a recent 500 mile road trip I averaged a bit over 17. Over 400 of the 500 was highway driving. I'm not unhappy with my MPG, but I have noticed that if I'm stuck in traffic or just going through fast food drive thru windows MPG drops. I would expect anyone that has to crawl through any type of traffic will have lower MPG with these 5.4 Expeditions.
Listen 5 4 220,000 Mi on it the only thing I've done is put timing chain set up in it oil pump but I did go and have a computer tuned I went from 16 around town with AC on daily driving up to 18 out on the highway at about 75 I'm laying down 2122 depending on the ground level most of that came from the tune

Stock 2012 King Ranch Expedition 5.4 from El Paso Texas to Las Vegas Nevada got 18.8 for the whole trip of about 715 miles. Had all of our luggage in the back with the 60 part of the seat folded. Highest it got was 20.1 on flat areas, 17.8 on the hills. Mostly around 77-85mph

ccomputer keeps saying 11-11.8 mph average. I did the math via tripmeter and how much fuel was put in, get 16.2 mph. Not sure what's going on.

Update on my real world MPG’s.
Just came back from a elk hunting trip that included towing a popup trailer loaded with camping/ hunting gear and 14 gallons fresh water and 25 gallons on board gen purpose water. 4 peeps, 4 coolers full of ice. On top in the roof rack was a floor jack thats mounted to a skid, large propane tank, 2 popup canopies, 2 foldup tables and 2 5 gallon fuel jugs.

Went from 3000’ to 8500’ elevation. Once at the camp
Spot the trailer was setup and from there it was alot of 4lo crawling around.

Total milage was 560.6 miles round trip. Used 59.6 gallons of fuel so I got 9.4 MPG on this mixed driving trip. The onboard display tells me I got 10.4 MPG so at least the display has my back.

Do note that on the way back I had lost all the water weight but had 4 coolers full of meat. Also it was mostly down hill driving so that helped raise the average. Average speed was 65 mph on the freeway. And 45-50mph thru the mountain passes and less than 5mph while driving around on the hint.

Not that it helps any but I run 5w30 oil. Everything is stock. So looks like I will look into making an auxillary fuel tank to take up the spare tire spot.

Slightly lifted, 33's with highway Michelins, regular length, 4wd, 190k mi

Try to run E85 if you can find it, at some point it was >$3 less per gallon around here. Makes all the difference. And imho the Flexfuel 5.4 runs better on E85 than gas.

Just returned from a 900 mile road trip with my '11 XLT. No lift, no mods. Got 18.9 on the way there, and a little over 18 on the way back.

Closer to home, an even split between in-town and highway is in the 14-16 range.

Just finished a 1295 mile tow trip i95 south from NY to FL. 2017 Standard Expedition Limited, HD Tow, 3.31 Rear. Open car trailer with total weight of 6400lbs. Target speed of 70-75 mph, Average MPG 13.4 on 93 Octane.

*** EDIT ***
The Above info was from the vehicles computer. Below is actual gallons used / miles driven information, which is lower. I noticed that the MPG was higher in flatter terrain areas of the trip.

1st fill up at 49,628.8

2nd fill up 49,906.3 22 gallons 277.50 miles 12.61mpg

3rd fill up 50,170.7 21 gallons 264.40 miles 12.59mpg

4th fill up 50,437.9 20.6 gallons 267.20 miles 12.97mpg

Alright, looking for real mpg numbers to compare them against mines. I have been doing some 500 mike trips on my 5.4 2007 ssv, to both the beach and a hunting trip. The beach trip was pretty flat driving with AC on all the time. The hunting trip was a mix of elevation changes and alot of 4lo crawling. On the freeway I do 70 mph as the mud tread putts you to sleep at 75 mph.
Average I got was 11.8mph.
This is with a 3/2” lift, on 35” tires on method 17” wheels so not really heavy. Have a roofrack and 17 gallon water tank I use plus coolers full of ice and 4 people. Is this MPG about what I should expect?
What gear ratio do you have on the ssv? I am installing 35s on my Limited this week with 3.31.
Was wondering if you felt a power loss and how does it drive on the highway?

The rear gear is 3.73, honestly I have not floored it since buying it. It does pass great and does not feel slugish while passing.
This past weekend I went on a hunting trip and my thermostat got stuck open. Im sure this did not help my milage. However I just kept it in 4hi and put in 40 miles of trail riding on pretty good jeep trails. Temps hovered at 199* as noted on the FORSCAN app.
