Hi -
I've had my 2006 Expedition EB 4WD for a year now & love it. My wife & I have started looking at travel trailers and I'm wondering if people have experience or thoughts using the Expy to tow the following:

2010 Forest River FS2410 Toy Hauler
Unloaded Weight: 6200#
Tongue Weight: 860# (according to the specs ... but they also say UVW is 5800# so it's probably 925#)

We don't plan on hauling toys when pulling with the Expy and would use it as a travel trailer. I can certainly stack supplies at the back of the trailer to bring the tongue weight down.

My Expy:
- 2006 EB 4WD
- 5.4L
- Air suspension
- Does NOT have the HD Tow package but I will add the larger tranny cooler & a brake controller.
- 3.73 rear end ratio (since it's 4Wd)

Is the tongue weight an issue?
Is this within reason for the Expy OR am I pushing it?

thanks!
Mike

IMHO its too much UVW is with no options like A/C,awning water, propaine, ect
dont forget you have not put any of your gear in it.
The Expy, the tow rating is for a 150 LB driver . so any thing that you put in the truck has to be subtracted from that ...
I tow a TT its small and im at 5000 LBS. 2000 21' shamrock

IMO the Expy is OK to tow some things but this is a big push to pull a 29' trailer with an 11,000 gross weight.
The HD towing equipped Expy is only rated to tow a max of 8,000 lbs +/- and that includes the passengers and all the gear in the truck.
Check your door post for the max for yours, it may only be 6,000 lbs.
Trailer Specs:
Specification - Description
Length - 28'11"
Hitch Weight - 860 lbs
Gross Weight - 11,020 lbs
Cargo Weight - 5,144 lbs
Fresh Water Capacity - 100 gals
Grey Water Capacity - 40 gals
Black Water Capacity - 40 gals
Furnace BTU - 20,000
Sleeps - 7
Generator - Generac
Tire Size - 15

I'd tow it, i would buy a shift kit, or get a programmer to change shift points and stuff, I would also buy a bigger tranny fluid pan, and maybe a bigger tranny cooler. Me and my buddy have towed a trailer (house kind i mean) with his 04 durango (Its a grocery getter) several times and its not too horrible
