Number 8 cylinder mis-fire fixed. A piece of plastic from the fuel line connection was pressed in between the injector connector. Now it runs on all 8! Thanks for the help guys!

I dont know if that has the same effect on a vehicle without the COP set-up. But its worth a look. It almost feels like it has a vacuum leak. All the new plugs are white-ish like a lean condition.

I'm going to do a compression test this weekend and if it comes back good. I'm pulling the intake gasket back off and re-sealing it with black RTV. Possibly there is a leak somewhere on the gasket surface and the RTV will fill that in.

Did a compression on cylinder #7 three times and it came back 120psi, 90psi, 90psi. I checked cylinder #6 for comparison. That one came back at 150psi, 150psi, 150psi. So it looks like cylinder #7 is hosed somehow. Now I'm not very happy.

Try putting about 2 tbsp of oil into that cylinder and do the compression test again. If the pressure stays the same, the problem is in the head/valves. If the pressure jumps in line with the other cylinders, the fault is in the rings/walls.

To add to my troubles. Yesterday I was driving the expy and the drivers rear brake line blew out... I'm wondering if the expy is telling me shes tired and ready to be put out to pasture. I may just shoot her and put her out of her misery...

Looked under the expy Saturday and it wasn't the soft line to the drivers rear caliper that had blown out. It seems like it was the hard line. The leak is about half way down along side the gas tank. This truck is not making anything easy for me right now. Good thing I have another car for transportation.

I re-checked the compression on cylinder #7 after adding oil. It went up to 155psi. Seems one of my rings bit the dust. Anyone have a vin code W motor for sale? Wonder if I could upgrade to a 5.4L without much trouble.

Yeah, I learned that real quick. The line on the forward side of the tee is the main line coming back from the abs. It was already replaced on the truck I worked on. It looks like they just stabbed it down the top of the frame rail without dropping the tank.
The line on the rear of the tee that heads back forward is the passenger side line. It goes forward to the first crossmember above the fuel tank and rides on top of that, then back to the passenger tire. That's what blew on mine, and I wasn't willing to try to drop the tank.
Just remember, being a Ford, it has a special connector at the tee's. I had to get 2-6" adapter fittings, a 40" line, a 12" line and 3 unions to do the r/r line.

Thanks for the heads up! I have so much else going on in my life right now and I dont need this as well, ya know. I'm figuring out how much I want to keep this truck and if its worth it to me to repair all of this. I think it is because I really like my truck. But I wish I had the time to do it all.

I have a 99 expedition 5.4L. I have read that some folks say they have all aluminium intake. Some folks say there is plastic. I have heard that the plastic intakes are only on the 4.6L. Does anyone know the truth? Also How can I tell if I have plastic or aluminium? Any help would be appreciated. Mike

the top half (spider) that go to your head are aluminium, But they then travel down and around plastic pips inside a plastic boxs on the button, 2 different pieces and you can take apart with a 10inch socket and they have a gasket in between the aluminium half of intake and plastic half of intake
