Can someone elaborate on the Sync hardware and if I can install it in my 08 Limited with voice nav?
I understand I have no steering wheel controls and don't have the proper buttons but I would have to assume there is a way to install it and get it to work somehow, even if I have to replace the whole entertainment/ Nav system. I just REALLY want Sync and it would make my commute much more enjoyable.
Thanks

I have sync in my '11 mustang. There really is nothing it can't do that my $300 pioneer headunit (with my htc droid) can't. You may be miles ahead to seek out an aftermarket solution, as sync is pretty integrated into the car.
Dunno if you have used sync before, but sometimes the voice command thing can get pretty irritating.

Back in '08 I ordered a Limited EL w/sync and navigation. When the expy came in they (Ford) added the sync. It was a separate module that interfaced with everything. This was in Jan. 09 so you should be able to order the unit from Ford.

Perfect. I'll look into it. I do hate the obnoxious voice all the time but I like to keep things factory looking.. Not to mention I don't think any aftermarket head unit is going to control the rear entertainment system.

Khpony, do you like the system? The way it is integrated? Do you have pics?

I'm still waiting on a system that just works off of Siri

I don't have any pics. When I liquidated our company 18 months ago the expy went as well. I now own a '98 expy. Yes I loved it and miss it. It worked great. When using the phone it overrode the nav and radio just like it was suppose to. My '08 came in in Jan 0f 2008 and in Feb of 2008 they installed the sync system at the dealership that I had ordered it with. It's definately worth looking in to in my opinion.

Did you do everything through the dealer? Do you remember how much it costs?

Are you sure this wasn't a Ford Mobile Ease unit ? Did it have a separate controller mounted to the dash ?
