Is that just personal preference or because of bad experiences?

Forced induction can blow a motor just as bad as nitrous.

Personal preference. Has no real application outside of the drag strip that I know of. I have heard of nitrous being used in combination with CNG, but other than that I do not know. Then again I do not drag cars either so I am no expert.

I was just wondering. I have a couple friends that run nitrous. But like you say, they use it on the track. Well, mostly on the track.

I can see it being a cool add-on, but forced induction has so much more general gain than nitrous in real-world applications. Probably easier to control too...

Yea i was looking into a supercharger but the price is a bit crazy 6k almost wat i paid for the truck lol an some on ebay are cheap but dont know if it will fit exp some are from a shelby an some from a lightning

Nitrous is more of a w.o.t. power enhancement tool so yes the track is ideal for it. Generally its either on or off.... no in between. OK there are progressive kits but that gets much more complicated.

It is not any harder on the motor internals than an equal supercharger setup, maybe even less so because no parasitic drag. But it has to be properly set up, same as a supercharger, or the results can be disastrous. Its also prone to nitrous backfires in the intake if everything is not just right. Just do a seach on nitrous explosions on youtube!! Just like a supercharger the motor and fuel system need to be up to the task. The tune on and off nitrous is different as well. Biggest disadvantage is Nitrous runs out. Supercharger is always available. Supercharger is much more linear in application as well.

Nitrous can actually work well with supercharged applications as a liquid intercooler. Typically a 50 shot can net double that when used in a supercharged application.

For the street I would say nitrous is not really an option not to mention illegal to use. But if you are considering it do your research!!

Ive ran a 150 shot on my expy. Like tom said it is a wot thing. People have a misconception that nitrous isthis dangerous thing that constantly tears stuff up. This is farther from the truth. In reality when set up properly and on a good tune nitrous is easier on a motor. Boost from a supercharger or turbo is there more constantly then nitrous does. Nitrous is on for a few seconds at a time. Our trucks arent designed for any kind of boost. With that said my expy did pretty good on some giggle juice

Go with a zex kit. Safer and it is pretty easy to install. I used a Nitrous Express kit I had lying around at work.

Hey mc0311 grunt did you retard your timing if so how did you do so. I recently purchased a zex nitrous system and it does state that if going 100 or above you should retard your timing by 2 or 4 degrees

Does your handheld give you the ability to adjust timing globally? I know sct does via the handheld. The only problem with this method is you will obviously sacrifice some power while not using the nitrous.

I have an J&S vampire which has the the ability pull timing via a trigger wire which would be ideal for nitrous. Would pull timing only when you activate the nitrous but it cost a few bucks. I got mine for tuning purposes and as a safety for running boost.

I have not seen much available for later model distributorless ignitions as far as timing retard but then I have not really searched for it.

Will be curious what mc0311grunt did. If just playing I would guess he pulled timing via handheld.

I pulled 6 degrees for a 150 shot. The truck reacted good. Also remember to go to a colder plug as well and read your plugs
