Since the introduction of the Expedition in 1997, I have never been a fan of the buttcrack shaped grille opening. So, I have been on an unending quest to make the "nose" of my '98 more attractive.

Box stock factory look with the gold trim Plastidipped.

New headlights and fogs helped.

A little black paint to the insert sure set it off!

But, still not happy... Still not a fan of the squished grille...
But as fortune would have it, a trip to the local wrecking yard and I got a '99-'03 grille for $25.

It only took about 15 minutes to tear the grille off. Hardest part were the damn plastic body pins. Actually had to use sidecutters and snip them off.

So my surpise, when I held the new(model) grille up, everything lined up pretty well!!! I was completely expecting to spend some time with the saw to "fit" the grille.

IMAG0345.jpg

The bumper pushed it up just a tad, but all of the holes lined up and the pins in the back locked into their slots.

IMAG0346.jpg

No gap left between the bumper and the grille.

IMAG0348.jpg

Finished product! Total out of pocket cost: $30.95
New grille gives it a totally unique look and style. Now that I know the grilles will fit, my next plan is to get a bar style grille and make it truly one of a kind.

That's a nice look with the grill painted a darker black tone. What type of headlights and fog lights did you get? Where did you order yours from?
