Fuse on and off with ignition

I am looking to get a Whistler CR90 radar detector that i want to hardwire. I have had radar detectors in the past but they were all just plugged into the power ports. I think am going to get an add a fuse and wire it into the interior fuse box. I am looking for a fuse that will cut power when the ignition is off and supply power when the ignition is on. Does anyone know what fuse # that would be? Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

I know but it would help to know what year Expy you have as the fuse box does differ from year to year

Update your signature line with year model and engine information. This can be done in the USER CP section as this information helps others give you replies specific to your vehicle.

sorry about that. Mine is a 2001 Expy with the 4.6 and 2wd. Thanks for the help

You can look in the owners manual for the location of Fuse #11 under the dash Its a 30 amp fuse for the wipers It is hot when the IGN is in either the run or acc position

if youre going to hardwire u better get a better and more reliable radar...whistler was good back in the 90s...it would be best to invest in beltronics or passports...and they have hardwire options that are easy to do...my wife complained that I spent the money on the radar...until she saw it was beeping WAAAAAYYYY before the radar she felt was good enough...just going down to our destination I avoided 4 tickets...PAID FOR ITSELF...then she shut up with her complaining...I didn't have to say a word...by the time the previous radar which was a whistler...and latest at that time which was 3 yrs ago...didn't beep until we were right on the cops I would've been doing 85-95 in 70...

Fuse #30 in my owners manual says it is a 30Amp for Passive Anti Theft Transceiver, Cluster Ignition Coils, and Powertrain Control Module. Fuse #1 is a 25Amp fuse that only controls audio, would that work?

I am concerned about the range of the detector. Would a Beltronics Pro200 be a better choice? I was even looking at buying a used Escort 8500 x50 Black edition.

I wouldn't use fuse #30 but ok for fuse #1 and what's wrong using fuse 11 as I first suggested

Oh, I apologize. I read it as fuse #30 not a 30 amp fuse. That would probably be a better option than the audio fuse anyway. Thanks roxy i really appreciate it

Your welcome I would stay away from anything to do with the
Passive Anti Theft Transceiver

Just hook to the line side of the fuse and use a separate fuse for the radar detector properly sized

I understand if money is tight...I have the beltronics STI...go to their site and escort and they both offer hardwire options...I love it...and I live in Virginia where its illegal to have it and it hasn't been detected yet...if youre going to do...do it all the way...go to their website...get off amazon so u can see whats top of the line and everything else...if u don't do top...nothing less than one below
