My edge programmer lets me specify how firm I want to make the shifts for 1-2 and 2-3. I know that the stock sloppy shifts allow alot of slipping and will wear out the tranny, especially with big tires. The question is, at what point do hard shifts start causing wear? (It's also ok to tell me that I'm worrying about nothing)

Well I'm sure there's a line you can cross where the transmission will be slamming into gear but will the tuner even let you get that crazy? I haven't played around with mine enough yet I just used the 91 tune with the accompanying shift point/rpm changes.

Not sure. Mine are pretty firm, and very depending at what RPM I'm at. Either way, as long as you don't get too crazy, you should be fine.

It makes a WORLD of difference. Mine no longer s-l-i-d-e-s in to the next gear. It feels exactly like someone put in a shift kit.

If your transmission doesn't shift right check to see if you have enough fluid/ check the color because it might be time for a flush.

Fluid level is good...color appears to be good...just a soft red color on the dip stick.

I bought the truck with 70,000 miles back in Jan 07 and just have a little over 90 now. It's never felt like its shifted quite right to me...not bad enough to get it checked out. Under hard acceleration, it will downshift but sometimes doesn't feel like it fully engages. I get a roaring sound from the fan but RPMs dont climb fast and power doesn't come on so strong. Sometimes it seems to hit a sweet spot and it will start pulling like mad, but that's not til about 4000+ RPM in 3rd gear.
