I was walking by my truck while it was parked on the street -- and all the lights (including the headlights) started blinking all by themselves. I got in and it was clicking from the center console (maybe a relay) -- here is the video (click link below)

https://youtu.be/QLJLv8SAWn4

I had been intermittently getting a 4x4 light blinking and an ABS light -- also sometimes as that was blinking I would lose my turn signals -- after this light show -- I just changed the multifunction switch & the plug to it. I just hope it is not the Devil! :flamingdevil:

Looks like a first gen in the video. Those have had problems with a leaky windshield that floods the fuse box and the GEM.
If that is the case with your problem you need to have the windshield sealed first.

Thanks! I did look for windshield leaks & spots on my floor under driver's side dash. I also took a mirror (& pictures) of my GEM and I can see no signs of water infiltration. I bought another GEM that matches my Expedition exactly (it's a 2002 EB) -- if the problem returns I will do that job next. BUT if I do that -- does the windshield need to be removed & resealed first -- or can I calk it somehow? Has anyone ever had their headlights and other lights just start blinking all by themselves - with NO key near the truck? By the way -- I do have the keyless entry on the driver's door -- could this cause these issues if water is getting to it?

If the windshield isn't leaking there really isn't a need to reseal it unless you want to be proactive.

Are the blinking lights pulsed randomly or are they pulsed on a regular interval - similar to an alarm sounding the horn?

Thanks for your interest. They pulsed on a regular interval - similar to an alarm sounding the horn.

You can see in the youtube link that there is a loud relay clicking -- the headlights are reflected in the car ahead -- this started when I was no where near the Expedition and when it was locked. Click the link below.

Hit the panic button on the key fob and see if it pulses the same.

Funny! Yes, it is kind of like this -- except the horn was not honking in the video -- but also I had noticed the horn was muffled when I would hit the button to turn the alarm on -- now that I fixed the multifunction switch the horn is clear and loud with alarm setting button and with panic button. So perhaps you are correct that I hit the panic somehow -- but the horn just wasn't working -- now it all does.... Will drive it and see if the 4x4 and ABS lights ever return. Thanks!
