a4wd switch lights

looks like the dash switch for a4wd 4h and 4L should light up but mine dosent .? bad dash switch ? fuse? where would I check for the fuse and how do you go about removing the dash switch ? my truck is stuck in 4h or 4L and I hear nothing when I use the switch no 4x4 or lo range lights during run time but stuck in 4h or 4L. only 4x4 comes on with key when first cranked. confused and stuck

page 135 has the fuse box under the hood. Fuse 104 is for the 4x4 motor switch and clutch. Can't find anything about the dash switch though.
