Just changed the front brakes, drove it today and on the passenger side the clip slightly moved and was rubbing on the inside of the wheel. I remember when putting both sides on they seemed to have a little play in them, I took a pic and wanted to verify I put the clip on correctly. I did take the clip off and put it back on and will drive around today but as of right now I cant say its fixed. The driver side is on the same way but hasnt yet caused the same problem.

Ive done these clips on other vehicles in the past and never had it do this. Just not sure if there on correctly.

well I just drove about 20 miles and it hasnt come loose, im wondering if it got bumped when I first put the tire back on, it has to weigh at least 100 pounds. Compared to the rear brake its on correctly. I did have to really rip the part out originally, wonder if I should just try to find some new ones to put on.

Your picture looks good. I would say you have to ensure the clips are locked into the hole in the side of the caliper. I made a mistake once, when I rotate I remove the calipers to clean and lube the slides. Mine popped off to, I guess it was not in correctly. This is a type of spring and too much on and off could "stretch" it out. New ones I think were about 25 dollars each. Dealer part only.

Hah, yea, that thing popped off when I was taking out my brake pads. Wasn't sure what they were, so I had to kinnda guess how they went back on (before I had the manual.) Luckily, I guessed right :)

Last time I took my truck in to have new brakes installed they said one of my brakes didn't even have a clip in it (had to pay $75 for a new clip). I never noticed it while driving and I was wondering what the clip does if the brake still functions without it?

I just did the same thing on my 03 EB yesterday, except one side of the clip was broken off and the other side came out rubbing on the wheel making a lot of noise and gouging the back of the wheel. It also took a chunk out of the top part or the caliper when it came apart that I had to fill with weld and grind back to normal. It was a major PITA to get it back on. You can get the whole front hardware kit from Autozone for $20.00 and it comes with springs for both sides.

Yeah I think I just knocked it loose when first putting on the tire, its been about a week or more and hasnt come loose. Ive even been on super bumpy dirt roads and the vibrations hasnt knocked it loose either. I just think with the super thick new pads its closer to the wheel then the stock pads, even my reservoir is close to overflowing because I pushed the pistons in to apply the pads, and I know ive never added fluid so I guess the stock ford pads were thinner and kept the clip farther away.

Ok, now that you pushed the old fluid back up take a bulb syringe and get the old fluid out. Replace it with clean. Now bleed your brakes. This ensures quality fluid in the whole system.

Mine does that too. Make sure your caliper bolts are tight. One of mine almost came off going down the road. Retightened it and put some threadlock on there, though it sometimes still does the clicking sound.

did you use the anti noise on the back of the pads when you put them on, alot of times the noise you here is the pad slightly moveing on the inside of the caliper, a little lithium grease will cure that, just be sure not to get it on rotors of pads, ouch, that might hurt, mine did same thing and as soon as i pulled them greased them and put them back i was golden, all that clip does is prevent chatter between the rotor and caliper andand pads, with out it your pad will relax and chatter when not under presure, iw will eventualy couse uneven wear in the pads

I was reading some of the other posts on here and i was thinking its the spring deal on the inside the gap of the front calipers maybe? And no i didnt use the anti noise stuff i gotta pik some up today, it sounds like its the pad is making the noise but it is like elvato says its at random and it only seems to be when im in reverse, thanks for all your help if i havent said it already.

I also thought it might be because i painted somewhere i wasn't supposed to at first but, i see no sign of wear on any of the painted surfaces.
