So after my second heater core change in 3 years, my remotes stopped working. I could live with that but now I have something (maybe a rogue signal in the air) that trips my alarm on every few days. I can live without a security system, I am 50 miles from the nearest town anyway.

Its a pain to do it, but when it goes off I can still pull the battery cable, turn the ignition on, and re hook it up. My wife drives this one and I need to do something about this.

So my questions
1. Anybody have a full breakdown of the system?
2. Maybe I disconnected something and missed it? a relay? something in the dash?
3. Can I disable or bypass the system?
4. Anybody have a better idea???

I will say that if the remotes were working prior to the heater core change and stopped after everything was back together Then you missed something and didn't get it 100% back together

batteries are good, put new ones in first. Yea, I am sure I missed something. I just don't know what, kind of why I was hunting for a schematic of the security electrical.

I hate leaving these threads unfinished for the next guy. I had what looked to be an aftermarket security system (due to the lack of Ford part numbers and evidence that it had been wired in after the fact) it was mostly contained underneith the steering column behind the lower dash covers. There were a couple of black boxes and a relay tied into everything. On the wiring going into what I would guess to be the main unit, there were 2 blade fuses in line. Pulled both and now it has no security system. I think the problem was more towards the remote side, but now I just use the key to open doors, the power lock switch still operates, just not off the remote. Other then that everything else is still working and I am happy.

As for not having a security system now, the odometer reading should be enough to scare off ANY thief.
