i am new to Ford, and am gaining interest in the 2018 Expy. I haven't found a ton on this truck yet, but i figure i will be ordering one to replace my toyota Sequioa.

does anyone have any info on whats changing between the 17 and the 18 that they can share? We looked at the 2017 but am trying to decide if i wait for the 2018. Any major rumors circulating?

it certainly looks nice

way out of my league so I never really looked at it that closely

I just bought a 2008 EB and couldn't be happier with it lol

the 17s are nice but old, dont know what yr your sequoia is but though the expy drives better, is still older than you Toyota if its an 08 or newer. the 18 was redesigned amd as such will most likely drive and handle better with way more interior room, but the price tag will be higher as well. couldnt go wrong with either.

Think its worth the wait over a new 17?
My dad always said never buy the first year of a new model because they will have lots of bugs to work out. You can argue they build cars better these days, however there are plenty of examples of first year body style horror stories. The 17 is the last year of this body style and the 3rd year with the 3.5L EcoBoost Twin Turbo engine, I won't say bullet proof but I will say it is reliable.

I would love to have the new body style but not for at least 3-4 years until I see how it pans out. If I had to buy the 17 all over again, I would have held out for a Platinum EL instead of the Limited EL. I would have liked to have the CCD suspension.

ExAndy, I got the Platinum EL (known as MAX in Canada) with the CCD suspension. I just do not adjust the suspension as often as I would like, IMO Ford blew it - there should have been a little dial on the dash that one could quickly reach and turn from comfort to regular to sport. I usually have the digital speedo on the instrument cluster and if I'm coming to a tight cloverleaf I'd love to just turn it to sport but having to hit the keys on the left of the wheel to get to the CCD is really not a quick process. In addition the glare and reflections on the left screen make it much more difficult.

I'd love the 2018 because it will have many of the features we had on my wife's 2014 Jeep Cherokee Limited and its replacement 2017 Escape Titanium. In particular, I'd love to have the lane change warning system that actually moves the vehicle back to the center of the lane when it wanders to the lane lines on either side. A nice feature with the Escape is that when the line on one side disappears it keeps tracking based on the remaining line - a very nice feature.

They turned the 2018 model into a sissy SUV. It sits lower and has Explorer front end. It looks like the ugly, Tahoe from the side. It has a knob shifter and stupid touch screen controls. There is no V8 or diesel option. The 450hp EB is only available in the Navigator.

I can see where that would be a negative. I wonder if there is a way that you could move the buttons to the center touch screen where they would be more accessible.

I love the 2017 because it has that truck like quality without having to go to a pickup truck. If the 18 sat up taller and had the F150 front clip on it I would be more jazzed about it.

Excuse me if im a little confused by this. I understand specs for the new truck hasnt been released yet but just need some clarification. I can see that the truck is more toned down due to aerodynamics but sissy, even though its based off the 18 f150? Also, becuz the truck is shorter and longer, it does look closer to the ground, but to me the ground clearance looks the same, just a lower air dam(the 18 has 22s, 17 has 20s these are the most similar photos i can find). How are touch screen controls stupid when the interior is directly from the f150 and the touchscreen system is from the current truck. Also, theres buttons all over the dash. Also, the current expy only has one engine, do you not like the tt v6? Also, is 400 hp still not enough though its more than any of its competitors? Is it not enough becuz its not in a v8? Also, does the side rele look like a tahoe? If they do, is it bad that ford takes a gm feature for functionality like gm does and has been doing with the expy for years now? I guess my question rele is, do you not like the current expy? To each his own i guess. Also, i do have a reputation for fiercely standing up for the 18s, but the only reason i do not have a 17(revised 3rd gen) is due to wifey forcin me to wait lol. Jus wanna make sure dislikes for the 18 arent different from 17 features as well. Its all Love for the expy.

The 2017 is not much better. I am not impressed with the Eco Boost or the styling. I just feel Ford has gone, all in, making it a soccer mom, SUV. It is no longer a truck. I do not need sync or wifi. Sorry to hear "wifey" calls the shots.

Heres some interesting facts for the 18:

- fx4 package is comin back
- 2nd row leg room up but 1st and 3rd row down
- 9.6in of ground clearnance(nav specs)
- reverse tilt mirrors are comin back(nav specs)
- expy std seats are now 6 way(guess to keep the price down)

I downloaded ford 2018 fleet brochure but its 2 big to post it has specs and comors for the expy
