I was planning on turning in my two weeks notice today after my shift was over (actually 4 days notice to be exact) and instead I got terminated 15 mins before the end of the shift ***** what are the odds!

Walking to the washroom to clean up for the end of the day, boss man hands me my check and as I'm about to go past him I saw a screw on the ground, I kicked it away and Mr EL bosso starts yelling at me for for how that screw is money to him bla bla bla and he was demanding an immediate apology, I just stood there with this wtf look on my face then
i said: calm down boss I'm sorry to tell you this but you need to go F yourself,
he replied: what??? (In shock) then yelled you're fired
Me: nah really, what did you think was gonna happen after I said that dipsh*t

Now I got a week vacation and walking out of that company with all my stuff never felt better, I would describe it as having the same pleasure as the day i became a father... I was that happy.

What a way to end a 6 year long time wasting journey

I think you knew or had some idea this was coming.
Especially after what happened some months ago.
Hopefully you can get unemployment.

Hope the best for you

When I worked in South Florida we called doing that "AMF". Which has multiple meanings, bosses were told it means "all my friends" but the workers new it had a more descriptive meaning.

@Habbibie congratulations on your new job. What kind of work do you do?
Thank you sir

I was working as an industrial field electrician (chief superintendent was my title) for the local utility company, a union job.

New position is In a private owned well established company, with the new position (same title & responsibilities as previous employer) I am going to be earning 18% more, I have 4 weeks vacation, 5 sick days and 3 personal days, take home company truck (f550 utility box w/ boom) annual performance bonus, and paid health insurance. Guaranteed 45 hours a week year round and never exceeding 60 hours with OT. This job is non-union which i perfer as you get to call your own shots not no wimpy sit behind a desk all day person calling the shots for you who's overpaid and doesn't have a clue what your job even is.

The new company owner offered me a job 4 times before I accepted his latest offer, he has seen my work and personality and has been insisting I join him as I would be a huge key to his company's success

Previous job I only had two weeks vacation, those 10 vacation days had to be used as vacation, personal and sick days as we don't get any personal or sick days. Insurance was paid for, we had a annual bonus, but biggest down side was continuous mandatory overtime for a total work hours of 80 a week MINIMUM!!! This is been going on for all 6 years i been there. Money is good with that much OT but after a while you start to hate yourself it as it leaves you with no personal time/family time, actually no free time what's so ever. I got three kids (7 months 2 years and 4 years old) I want to get to know them, spend time with them and show them what fatherhood is.

That's awesome I am very happy for you. It sounds like the perfect job. 25% fewer hours and 18% more, you can't beat that. When I first started my career I worked for an electrical supply house and then switched to an HVAC distributor.

Uhh you're a numbers guy, I didn't even count the difference to this day but now I know. Here's one for you since you got me going on this too

Say I was making $10 an hour
With previous job:
40 hours = 400
40 hours OT= 600
After Uncle Sam's cut =780 net working minimum hours a week (40 reg, 40 OT)

New company
10 with 18% increase after taxes and no OT take home pay is 414 (45 reg, 0 OT)
So even though it's a pay raise of 18%, my loss is actually at 53% less Net income of a given work week working the minimum # of hours. Huge loss to many but the stress level is testing my wits and relationship so a loss to you can prove a huge gain to me.

Huh previous boss called me, left me a message saying take some time off then come by for lunch when I've cleared my head.

I somewhat feel bad for the guy, he lost his top grossing player and two big accounts due to the fact that those top dollar customers only want to work with me directly, no one else.

I'm assuming both accounts informed him they're backing out of the deal unless I'm handling it as I contacted them Friday evening and informed them I will no longer be able to assist them, they both surprisingly wanted to pull out of the deal and pursue it through my new establishment. This is a good feeling... some recognition for all the hard work.

I am gonna miss using that company's 2016 F450 platinum that's for sure.

Most higher paying companies, do a FCRA background check, before hiring. It is done by a third party, service. Some of these agents are pittbulls and try to dig up dirt, from your previous employers, driving record and criminal history(they have to justify the service). Telling your ex-boss to F**k off and being fired, could come back and haunt you.

Maybe so, but you know what I've had to bs on my resume most of my life, and never had anyone call me on it. The one time they did was when I sued a tire co I worked at, went on disability for 6 months or so, when I came back they fired me saying I lied about a past job, that I pulled my elbow, two days I took off gem my last job, but they said you lied on application. So I sued them and got an easy $15,000 out of them. If a company is going to dig that deep, you don't want to be involved with them anyway. Habbibie you already got the new job anyway, no worries. People that steal, hurt people and worse get new jobs, this world makes no sense sometimes.

Congrats Habbibie!

In June of '15 I received a TEXT MESSAGE at 8:30PM telling me that I was no longer employed! I couldn't believe that some people could be such cowards! I took the rest of the year off while living on my bonus that they had paid me not 2 months earlier! I never even touched my savings account yet paid my mortgage and other bills all on time! I took my sweetheart on a vacation, spent lots of time with my grown children then came back to work on the first working day of '16.

Like you, I knew it was coming because I wasn't "friends or family" so I had removed everything from their building that was mine except for my coffee pot and the picture on my desk.

I responded the next morning via email copying the "guy", his wife who was the CFO and also copied the Branch mgr and HR woman and was very polite stating that I felt sorry for "the guy" because wives tend to lose respect for cowards but that he's probably used to that by now with the rumours that circulated daily in the office. To the Branch mgr, I wished him luck and thanked him for the bonus that he personally had given me after feeling me out to see if I would accept less than the agreed amount(I wouldn't) then told him that I had already removed all of my personal items from his offices weeks earlier since it was obvious that "the guy" was trying to remove all those not "friends or family" but please have someone return my picture & coffee pot when they sent someone to pick up their company owned car which was sitting on the street, unlocked with the keys(both) in the console.....

That same coffee pot is now making coffee for me in my "new" office and the old firm is nothing but a bad memory.....you'll feel the same way shortly!

When you said you got an 18% increase I assumed that you were talking about your net increase, meaning that you got to work fewer hours and still made 18% more. I completely understand the less stress aspect.

When I was "Fired" from the job that brought me here to Fort Wayne, I had a feeling that it was coming. The new boss that I had, didn't like the old boss that I had (and they were brothers) and so after he took over, he got rid of me because I was his brother's guy. There are two people at that company that it wouldn't break my heart if they lost everything they have. I haven't worked full time since. I teach college part time, and I've had a couple of full time jobs that just didn't pan out. Aside from not working, my stress level went way down.

Now I'm 59, old, fat, and bald, not really what they are looking for anymore. But I would still like to have a job for at least a couple of years so I can get health insurance, but hell, I'm still healthy for now. :)

Thank you Andy,

Yeah since you understand the concept of how all this will pan out, I still have a second job (part time) that pays far more than my primary job, with that job alone I can support all my housing and family needs if necessary, just I don't want to do it as a full time job the rest of my life (office work, sit behind a desk) I'm hands on, like to be somewhere different from time to time. I wish my conditions allowed me to venture out more into something I'd far more enjoy but the fact that i have kids i have stay local with minimal travel and health insurance is a must.

What do you teach in collage if you dont mind me asking?

The two classes that I teach the most are Group Dynamics, and Leadership, but I also teach Management, Principles of Business, Common Office Procedures, and Critical Thinking.

Critical thinking....is NOT taught at the Elementary levels.....but should be. Everything today is test scores and evaluations with no time for actual teaching anymore. I grew up in a family of educators and will one marry another and while I don't fault anyone for their beliefs, "ONE SIDE" has gotten their way with education for the past 50 years and the result has been complete and utter failure....their response? Double down on the very things that destroyed our educational system....keep that in mind when you vote folks!

OK, rant over....sorry Habbibie & Andy

jeff

PS. A lot of us are 59 fat & ugly Andy....don't get down on it...REVEL in it!! LMAO!!

Got a job at Blackwell Laboratories, the place that does the oil testing. They are here in Fort Wayne. It was part time and I worked there for a day but I wasn't used to the physical side of it, standing in one place doing repetitive work. But at least I tried it and the owners were nice.

Yeah and I'm cantankerous and don't put up with other people's shit any more. I'm not going to kiss anybody's ass either. What you see is what you get, which probably why I'm semi retired. Although I would still like to earn a paycheck.

I've had a blast the couple of times that I've had the opportunity to teach critical thinking. I use articles from the news and get the students to see through the BS and figure out what they are really saying and what they are trying to get you to believe. I get them to identify the different type of bias being used. It is a fun class because you get some people that take it for face value. When we were kids we were told that it was our duty to question authority and to ask questions.

Ummm so yea I just gave my two weeks notice to the new employer, I been going back and forth with interviews with one company for a while and yesterday the owner called me and offered me the job with a little over 50% more than what I am making currently so that's close to 70% more than i was making at the job I was fired from. The job offered consist of 90% field work, 10% office, versus 50/50 with my current position and believe me I want way more field work as that's what I enjoy the most.
