Any creative way to permanently disable front parking aid? Mine goes haywire pretty often now especially in traffic or at a stoplight. The other day it woke up my napping two year old. I can turn it off but of course it resets with every ignition cycle. I tried to post this in the ForScan thread but it’s not allowing me all of the sudden.

Are you tailgating or is it not working right?
Mine goes off around 2' away from what's in front of me.

I have a 2015 Expediton Limited 4x4 - purchased new and never wrecked or damaged.

My front parking aid will intermittently and randomly activate during good weather (no snow, ice, bugs, dirt, etc.) on them. I took it to the dealer only to be told there are no codes stored - thus nothing wrong. I have learned Ford technicians are code readers and very few are able to diagnose or troubleshoot a problem.

When the system sounds, it is very annoying and I push the steering wheel button to disable the system. It resets once the vehicle is restarted.

The system works fine as it is supposed to - but it also malfunctions randomly.

I do not know how to permanently disable the system. Turning it off when it malfunctions works for me, and reminds me of the Ford’s poor quality each time it sounds.

I have the same problem on occasion - at a stoplight with 6 feet or more between me and the next car. And it beeps intermittently like it is unsure of itself. Only the front one, never the back. I have had it come on while rolling as well so I know it's not a proximity issue. Like you guys, I hit the button and wait until next time.

Mine is the same. Mine will do it when I’m stopped and nobody even in front of me. If it’s raining and I’m driving down the highway forget about it. It goes off like crazy.

I’ll just push the button and turn it off. No big deal

Try unplugging it see what happens??

Also perhaps your sensors are all gunked up and triggering themselves??

That used to happen to me on my first generation with rear parking sensors. Though I'm sure the technology as improved. My '14 front and rears work great so far, but I've only had it a month.

Mine is a '14. The front parking aid uses its own beeper under the dash on the drivers side. If you just disconnect the beeper, you will get an error message. I measured the resistance of the beeper and replaced it with the equivalent resistor. No more beep and I can see on the message display when I'm getting close to something.

when ours does the erratic beep at stop lights. i have found maybe glare , but then realized dead bugs on the sensors
This is (one reason) why IMHO self driving cars are not going to happen. Of course WAYMO just put in an order for 62,000 Chrysler minivans ... so ... we'll see.

My truck is almost never gunked up. Wash it often. Still has issues. I like the beeper disable idea. Think I’ll go that route. faa8799b345ada6ce64f563d405da00d.jpg

Ever find a solution for this? Just bought a '16 with the same issue. I would love to completely disable it.

Hawk, what did you do with your front sensors with your front bumper install?
Unfortunately nothing yet. I need to extend the sensor harness and then mount the sensor holders. I'll post up when I've done it. Depends on time...

I found a solution, or at least one that has worked for me. I found these: https://www.amazon.com/Ranch-Hand-USCBP-Sensor-Cover/dp/B01N543CIO

They work. Since I put them on, the front sensors have not gone off and these is no warning signal. Not sure what exactly they do, but it is a great solution for me. True, they are not the best looking since they just stick on top of the sensor, but for my setup with a front grill causing the front sensors to go off all the time, this has been a solid option for me.

Actually this is not just a ford issue. ALL vehicles do this intermittently and the systems cannot be turned off in programming BMW has a huge issue with this. The sensors will collect moisture and dirt in the as they are not sealed well and they malfunction. Spray them with a little WD-40 and wipe them off. It helps displace moisture for a little while. Some fords you can pull a gray plug up by the brake pedal to disable the system. I am going to unplug the sensors at the bumper on my king ranch because my brush guard keeps setting it off
