purchasing 48k miles expedition xlt 4x4 for $21,995. Should I get the 5 years 50kmiles warranty which covers engine, electrical, drivetrain and etc for $3,200? I am planning on keeping it for as long as I can! Thank you in advance!

Absolutely. One damaged transmission or engine and its paid itself off.

Everyone will have different opinions on anything. Me, I like to self-insure where I can everything except homeowners & health care & umbrella. I never buy extended warranties. I'm on my 3rd Expy since 1998 and none of them would have paid off with an extended warranty. That vehicle SHOULD easily be good for another 50K. Bank the $3200 and roll the dice.

Opinions are like azzholes, everyone has one and they all stink
(including mine) (opinion)

That's kinda pricey. Look at the Ford extended warranties online through flood Ford or similiar. They are far cheaper especially if you just want powertrain coverage.

Is it a genuine Ford warranty or third party? What are the deductibles? The devil is in the details so be sure to read and fully comprehend the fine print.

Have an in-law with a Jeep. She paid thru the nose by financing in an already overpriced non-Mopar bumper to bumper warranty. Guardian or something to that effect. Transmission took a dump and she had a heck of a battle getting any coverage because of the warranty terms. Hidden in fine print but right there plain as day, it specified the fluid was to be flushed or changed at some ridiculous interval, at the Dodge dealership, which it wasn't. There were literally more exclusions than items covered in that warranty. Even the $50 tow was rejected by warranty because she didn't arrange it thru Guardian or whomever's 800 number. Right there in the fine print as well. She paid over $100 for a couple miles. She now drives a Kia and generally hates men. Because SHE can't read.

If its a Ford branded warranty, see if you can A) purchase it outright, with cash and completely separate from the vehicle financing, or B) if you can purchase the identical warranty at this same price at a later date. Say in 12 months.

Me? Visa and American Express if I can't fix it.

My Expedition is now 10 years old and outside of oil changes, doesn't know what a Ford garage even looks like.

Yeah, what Jeff said! I paid $32k for my 2016 XLT with 57k miles back in November 2017 and THAT was a great deal at the time!

Absolutely without a doubt last September I bought my Ford Expedition thank God I purchase the extended warranty since for the last month it has been in and out of the shop 5 times cam phasers timing gear oil pump guide plates some kind of little solenoids the bill was almost $8,000 then there was the front seat that was just rocking a little bit sea Trek and replacement was $1,100 and my air conditioning that it's being worked on right now not sure exactly how much that one will end up being so they extended warranty definitely is a must

You found a 2017 with less than 50K for $21,995. ?? WHERE?

That truck would SELL for 35K here between Balt & DC

jeff
I just bought a 2017 Expedition XLT 4WD with 39,500 miles from Hertz used car sales in Las Vegas for $28,000. Near perfect shape. It looks like they kept all the matenance up - no wrecks, etc.
