Aftermarket amp write-up?

So Ive done several searches and couldn't really find what I'm looking for. Hopefully someone here can help point me in the right direction...

When I was a member on 'G35Driver.com' someone had done a full, step-by-step, write up of exactly how to route wiring, what wires to cut/splice into, etc. when installing and aftermarket amplifier. Is there anything on here similar to that? I'm installing an aftermarket sub and amplifier, in a 2015 Expy, with the stock MyTouch and Sony sound system. Need to know where to route the amp power wire through the firewall, and where to tap into for a LOC. Thanks in advance for any help.

I have hooked up a few aftermarket stereos, amps, and subs in the past, when I had to go through the firewall I would look for a rubber grommet and cut a little split in it for my wires to go through to the battery, after that I would put in an inline fuse big enough to handle the amp that I was using, then I would take the aftermarket head unit and look for the wire that would cut the amp on/off, color varies from mfg, then I would hook up each wire that matches each other then I would put my subs where I would want them and secure them so they wouldn't move around, but before I would do that I would hook up the corresponding wires from the sub to the corresponding spot on the amp. hope this will help you out some way Good Luck Patrick.

Im familiar with the process. Ive done several installs in the past. Looking more model specific. Like, once you pass the power wire through the firewall, where it comes out inside the cabin. In the write up for my G35, they detailed how to remove the glove box, and that the wire would come in behind the cabin filter... Knowing what specific wires at the factory sub to tap into would be nice. Takes all the guess work out of it.

Your best bet for what your looking for would be Crutchfield. They usually have sheets vehicle specific, that give step by step. Their about the only ones that do to my knowledge.

When I can't find Expedition information I look for F-150 write-ups. The trucks are very similar and there are many more F-150 owners who do their own work and write about it...

I’m a big Crutchfield fan. They were one of the first places I sourced. Sadly, they haven’t updated their information in quite some time and don’t have a master sheet or much information for the 15-17 Expy’s. Fortunately, I got everything wired up and working today, and will work up a write up to be posted on the forum soon...

Can't wait to see the write up. I'm also looking to add amps, sub and replace factory speakers while retaining the factory head unit (out of necessity, not choice)

Here's a thought. Why not film it, write it, and send it in to Crutchfield, it will help others, and who knows you might get paid, especially if your using their stuff. At the very least, print it here, especially how it sounds, with the improvements, like deeper cleaner bass, better mid-range, and smooth high end. Being around Stereo all my life, it would be nice to have a visual as well as an audio article that describes the good and the bad of an upgrade. Sort of like what the car stereo magazines do, without all the technical garbage nobody wants to read.

The biggest issue for me, is time. I work a 12 on, 2 off, schedule right now. So my precious 2 days off are spend working around the house and spending time with the family. I am working on a small write up to be posted this evening though.

Ever get to making the write up? I’m trying to figure out how to wire the aftermarket amp and I’m lost.
