Tahoe/Suburban 2019 Ordering Window closed 3/21...

2020 ordering window opens 5/9 with production starting 6/24/19... FYI.

They haven't actually announced the 2020s yet. It's going to be a whole new platform for Escalade/Suburban/Tahoe/Yukon, so I doubt they'll be taking pre-orders this early.

I consider myself a good negotiator and based on a thread on this forum and NADA range of prices paid I'm curious why dealers in CT look at me like I'm nuts when I tell them what I want to pay. NADA says best price paid on Platinum is $64,910. I'm assuming this could have some employee pricing and may not include destination but a dealer laughed at me yesterday when he asked how much profit he was allowed to make over invoice and I stated I wasn't even willing to pay invoice. I was in car business years ago in a different life and I know there are multiple things that account to getting best price but knowing how quick the value drops on these things there's no way I'm paying what they're asking. I did receive a price on a 2019 Platinum w/ tow package today for $70,280 and a Stealth w/ convenance package and captains 2nd row seats for $68,077. These didn't include the 0% financing and knowing there's free money out there I want to try and snag this too. Can anyone with similar packages feel comfortable sharing what they paid or tips on how these dealers are getting there. Thanks all!

CT is one of the wealthiest states in the union. I don't blame the dealer for not willing to budge when he knows he'll sell that truck at MSRP a few days later.

Negotiating power is only as strong as the area you live in, and how large a demand for an $80k truck is.

Try other dealers via their internet sales dept. If you don't mind the hassle of traveling to another area and registering the vehicle yourself, you can save quite a bit over a dealer that won't deal. Ford dealers are in nearly every town, try another.

Well we finally puled the trigger. 19' Stealth w/ conv package and rear set entertainment. Picking up tomorrow. Called dealers all along the east coast from New England to PA to DC/Baltimore. Issue we have is a 2012 Land Rover Lr4 with 117K trade that has a slipping tranny so driving it too far would have been taking a huge chance. I know some have purchased these below invoice but I literally had 2 dealers hang up on me and 2 that let me walk out of the showroom when I made below invoice offers. I'm sure they may change their tune when it's 90 degrees out and the 2020's are arriving but for now there are hardly any out there with our color choice, tow package and 2nd row bench seat option. End result is the dealer gave me $2K more than I know the trade is worth ($14K). The MSRP was $79140 and selling price is $76,343. We'll be able to take the $1250 rebate off plus they're accepting my wife's college grad school transcript ($500 college grad). End result will be $76243 - $1250 - $500 trade rebate = $74,500 plus the 0% for 60. Luckily I live in an extremely Blue State so I'm lucky enough to get whacked with a luxury tax of 7.8%. Sure the state knows how to spend my money better than I do so it's all good. LoL. Happy their overpaying for the Land Rover but they literally would not budge on the selling price. I was actually surprised with the customer service from salesman and GM as they let me walk out last week and literally never even followed up. I asked the GM if they sell many $75K cars (they don't) and expressed how surprised I was that they didn't try harder to make the deal. His response was they have 1 Expedition on the lot and know how many are out there. The Stone Gray w/ Blacked out features looks absolutely stunning so we're extremely excited either way. I will obviously be kicking myself come August when the rebates are higher but by then the LR would have been nothing more than a paperweight.

Why the HELL would college grads get $500 off in exchange for their transcript????

How about a "blue eyed blond haired" or "prestigious zipcode" discount while they're at it?

...This country has gone off the rails lately.

Because graduating college is an achievement, and a fairly popular one. Such a discount reaches a fairly wide target audience.

Your other 2 aren't a fair comparison.

Yeah, offering incentives for a more wealthy demographic only seems totally uncontroversial... lol

It's probably intended to target your perceived improved credit-worthiness and lower risk, but NOT automatically including it for cash-in-hand buyers is kinda messed up.

Your Commiefornia is showing...

After seeing all these prices, I'm glad I only paid $15k for my 17 Platinum. It had hit a pole dead center front pretty hard and I had to fix it, but I saved myself ~$55k. I'm pretty happy with that.

Lol just because someone is college educated does not automatically make them wealthier, especially if they're under 40.

Its just a different incentive. I don't understand how this is so controversial. Its almost exactly the same as showing that you're a first responder and getting a discount based upon that.

Actually, I think first responder discounts are borderline iffy... and police/military discounts distasteful

BUT... neither is about giving a further leg up to existing privilege, at least

I was referring to Adieu and his "it's not fair" post... He has So Cal listed as his location. California="******"fornia. That's why I quoted his post in my response.

I'm in the midst of mulling over pulling up stakes and evacuating to Texas out of this mess, if that puts you at ease

No it doesn't. Especially after spewing the ignorance about Police and Military discounts being distasteful. Stay in California so your ignorance doesn't spread.

Oh that I understood. What puzzled me was how california is communist, seeing as it most assuredly is not.

Interesting. First time I've heard that about the LEO/mil discounts.

It is however, how you appeal to consumers in a capitalist society. More privilege generally does equal more money, in one form or another.

College grad discounts make sense...if you look at the stats, college grads have larger income potential over their lifetimes (no, not everyone, just as a statistic), but may very well have less cash on hand due to recent costs of school. It get's them into the brand so they can spend more later on.

And it's offensive to suggest that it's "iffy" to offer discounts for those folks that put their ass on the line every day to make our lives safer while being woefully underpaid for doing so.

If you want the discount, put on a uniform or pick up a textbook. Otherwise, you'll have to rely on your negotiating skills.

The college discount is nothing more than a advertisement campaign pointed at a target group. Like aggie said they know they will be making more money.
So who would you be targeting if you owned the company?
