The 2018 Ford Expedition was the subject of six safety recalls. The 2019 and 2020 Expeditions are the subject of one safety recall (so far....).

Sure seems like a testament to the lack of Ford’s concern for quality and safety in its vehicles.

The 2018 Camry has 4

The 2018 E-class has 9.

You’re right, neither Toyota or Mercedes know anything about quality. Clearly recalls equal crappy build quality.

And the 2015 Tahoe (first year of the current gen) has 13.

I said (and still mean) that the safety recalls show a lack of concern for quality and safety. And that applies to any manufacturer - especially with basic technology such as a seat recliner mechanism.

It’s funny that you mention the Tahoe - I bought a new 2015 Ford Expedition Limited 4x4 (my first Ford), instead of a 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe, due to the numerous safety recalls for the Tahoe and the smaller third row seating area.

Seat COULD snap back if a fat enough occupant crashed the truck hard enough at a fast enough speed???

Hardly seems like a relevant issue, just lawsuit cya stuff...oh wait, never mind --- FORD DRIVERS!!!

Actually, scratch that, it doesn't even make sense... you'd only be thrown against your seat back with extreme g's during a rear end collision, in which case you WANT the damn thing to snap back if you get hit hard enough (like the seat equivalent of a crumple zone)

Unless someone is sitting behind you (like a child) and then they get crushed. It’s actually a legitimate issue for many rear-end collisions, especially higher speed ones. https://carseatblog.com/38404/collapsing-seat-backs-what-can-you-do/

I thought Big Brother no longer allowed young 'uns to be transported without a ridiculous cocoon of armor and restraints until they graduate middle school?

Besides, with a rear end impact that's hard enough, you die regardless. Seat snap or no seat snap.

Rear impact crashes are very rarely deadly. Yes, they happen, but the vast majority are survivable.

Did you even read the article I linked?

i had an incredibly bad accident with a rear end collision. i broke my neck and had to have a C1-C2 brooks fusion. I am lucky to be walking. i was 17 and in a 1987 mazda b2000 pickup truck. i was dead stopped and rear ended at 50-60 mph

All manufacturers are issuing more recalls. That is good. Years ago, they would sweep most problems under the rung and not recall vehicles. They are much more proactive today. I think most vehicles have at least 1 recall within the first few years.

Remember how long it took to recall the Pinto for fires on rear end crashes? Today, action would be taken much more quickly.

The recalls today are also frequently for a much smaller issue.

I would think most of the almost 500k vehicles would be work/fleet trucks. Most XLT's even have power seats.

While the standard XLT seats have various power functions, they still have a manual recline adjustment. XLT's with 201A, 202A and the Limited and Platinum models have the power recline adjustment.

My XLT does not have a manual recline adjustment. It is electric for both driver and passenger side.

You must have the 201A or 202A package with the 10 way power seats. The 200A package that is standard on XLT's only includes 6 way power seats and has manual recline.

Another story showing you made the right choice avoiding the Tahoe ;)

GM has announced another (now 14) safety recall for the 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe. I’m sure glad I didn’t buy one when I looked at them in the Spring of 2015. Then, there were already six safety recalls issued for the 2015 Tahoe.
