I took mine off two weeks ago. All the screws and clips came off easy, I dropped the air dam and put all the hardware back in the upper section just in case I want to put it back on. After 500 miles, mostly highway, no change in mpg. I ordered the FX skid plates based on scottdm's list plus (2) brackets I think I need for the front plate. Due to come in this weekend.

I also have fx4 plates coming in this week and a raptor transmission skid plate so I will be tackling the air dam then.

In Buffalo, the plows leave piles of snow at the end of the driveways. The first thing I thought was, that air dam is too low, to go through deep snow. My Expedition, can get me in and out of my driveway with no problems, in heavy snow. The 4th gens would need to be shoveled or plowed out first.

Is there a compiled list of the skid plate parts or do you have to read through that long post and take screen shots?

Do F150 FX4 and Raptor skid plates fit on a Expedition?

Raptor transmission skid plate bolts up to the Expy, but the other front Raptor skids don’t fit due to the special front bumper setup on the Raptor. Expy FX4 skids bolt up on non FX4 Expy models.

Does this apply, if you know, to 2nd Gen Expy's?

Be careful on the fuel tank skid plate since it has different part numbers for short and long wheelbase models. The part listed in the posts is for the short wheelbase Expy.

What material are the FX4 skids made out of?

The Expedition FX4 package adds the front two skid plate parts (steel), and the fuel tank skid plate (heavy plastic). The transmission felt deflector shield is the same on FX4 and other Expy models, hence the reason for investigating the Raptor transmission skid plate.

These guys show they sell this bumper skid to the public. I may check in on it.

I completed my install of the transfer case and two front skid plates. I left the transmission cover on for now and I also did not install the fuel tank cover. I based my order off of scottdm's list and had some parts to return, I circled the qty I returned on the far left of my parts list. There was a another cardboard cover and small metal skid plate in front of the tranny. I removed them and re-used the hardware. After my returns I found an FX on the Ford lot and compared and they matched perfectly. Total after returns was $500.
