Finally went to drive the Navi today and think I’m going to get one. If i do it I’ll be breaking my rule of never buying a first year model. BUT I figure maybe the fact that they pick up and drop off for service and being able to get a good deal on leftover 19’s could make it worth it.

So two questions.

1) what first year gremlins are people dealing with? I noticed a vibration at highway speed when test driving and that scares the crap out of me. Sure, it COULD be flat spots in the tires from sitting or it could end up being a disaster like the chevy shake saga.

2) Curious to know how much people are getting off MSRP. Someone here said they got like 20% off which seems really high to me but I’ve never bought a new ford/Lincoln so not sure what people are seeing. I’m fussy and usually order my vehicles to my specs but seems like there are enough of these where I can likely forgo doing that.

Very much appreciate any input.

(And don’t worry, I’m looking for the ugly stuff on the first model year and realize that ALL makes have their growing pains. No need for Ford, ahem, ‘enthusiasts’ to go all ‘protect the queen’ on this thread :))

Thanks!’

Lookin at both the expy and navi forums, most issues stem from the cam phasers and poppin mirrors. Idk much about the cam phasers as i dont get the start up vibrations or noises in mine, but there seems a fine line for acceptable and trashed vehicle.

As for me, I do get the poppin mirrors, but i live with it. I also have the disconnecting bt and glitchy sync as well. As a first run, my truck also has a lot of creaks and rattles, more than i think it should. The exterior paint job was mediocre and is uneven, patchy and swirly. Also, the cars steering wheel and pedals vibrate almost constantly so it feels like ur constantly shaking. Driving a rental tahoe is only exasperating that feeling as it doesnt do this. Sitting in the passenger side you dont feel the fine vibration and is actually way more comfy. Lastly, that fine vibration you feel i think is less a problem as it is either bad frame mounts ford has used on all expys or extremely sensitive shocks.

Though it seems like alot, none of these issues and jeers make me like my car less. Actually, driving the tahoe has made me miss my expy more, though its better in some respects. I think most of what i said will be worked out in do time. I just hate that my 70k car has dumb problems thats extremely noticable to others.

As for pricing, i think i got a good deal on my lease. Since your looking at a nav and supply is still pretty low, itll be hard to get a great deal on one, atleast until the new escalade drops.

Well one thing you have going for you is that the 2019 is the second year of the new Navi/expy. I had a hard time waiting, but I'm glad I did because the model I got didn't exist till '19 anyways.

I'd have to do some double checking to be sure, but I believe I got about 15% off of my Limited Max Special Edition. The 20s hadn't bed formally announced yet, so if you can find one you like still hanging around, you might be able to do even better.

Oh and as far as Gremlins go... Nothing so far in about 900 miles. It's been amazing overall. The only thing that needed remedied was the fact that I have kids in all 5 rear seats and the kids on the back sides couldn't click their seatbelts cus they were way down in the seat (so they don't get in the way when they fold). Got a couple of rigid extenders and wala! Not coming with floor mats in the 3rd row was dumb too, but some Husky liners fixed that.

But aren’t the ‘19’s the first model year?

The dealer has a fix for the popping mirrors. It's just a software update. See this thread: https://www.expeditionforum.com/threads/passenger-side-mirror-freaking-out.35480/page-9#post-355065

First email back from a dealer told me they could do $4k off a $93k 2019 Navi.

Lol.

Time to email the next dealer on the list...

Curious...can you take the navigator to a ford dealer for warranty service?

Yes but you won’t get the pick up/delivery and guaranteed loaner that comes with paying that Lincoln premium price.

look into the xplan pricing, you may get that plus anything the dealer will take off. You can get eligibility through membership in mustang club if America.

Isn’t xplan pricing just for employees or partners? How does it work? Thanks

No, xplan is for anyone who qualifies in a number of ways, being a member of mustang club if America is how I got it. There are other designations for employees and whatever else. Once you get the club membership I think there is a waiting period before you can purchase using xplan, I don’t recall how long... maybe 60days or something. There’s is info on the mustang club website about xplan benefits of the membership. Once you get your xplan pin you can shop using it and see what your final price would be. We used it and our Navigator Reserve went from $90k to $83 I think... it was January 2018 so I don’t recal exact numbers but it was in the $7k range I believe.

At least look into it. The membership fee for mustang club was $25 for a annual.

it’s more discount for the Ford products. I don’t remember how the formula shakes out but I’m sure google would provide the answers you seek.

sorry I don’t recall the details.

Thanks. Yeah it’s the 60 day thing I’m worried about. I’m making a kinda impulse buy. Ain’t got time for that!

Lol. Impulse is the wrong word probably. I know cars well, know what I want and don’t mess around when I decide to get one.

I also don’t ever go sit at a dealership until I’m signing the paperwork.

This is the only way we buy as well. This last time we ordered so it was even less messing around then ever. We had to wait for the build but it cut down on the search.

We ordered our Navigator on X plan. Took 6 weeks and we got exactly what we want. Look at the options to determine the configuration you want. We love the 30 way seats and HUD.

We have 5,000 miles on our. Our biggest problem is that the 3rd row middle shouder belt will not stay in the holder in the ceiling. Certainly not a big problem.

Use MC405 for the login. That will at least get you in to see what the xplan pricing looks like. You would still need the actual pin to purchase.

My mustang club membership ran out a few months before I purchased, but from what I could see, I was seeing better numbers without it in the form of dealer discounts.
