This!! I used a small rare earth magnet and have not had it fallen down since. One like this on Amazon: Small Rare Earth Magnet

I just slapped the magnet on the plastic part where the buckle rests and it's good. You can still pull the belt down to use it.

Could you please take a picture of how you have the magnet installed in the holder? Almost every time we drive on a semi-bumpy road, it falls out.

I will try and take a picture of mine when I get home (if I remember). We had that issue initially and then I put it in a specific way and have not had the problem since..... at least I don’t think we have.

Stick a small rare earth magnet where the arrow indicates, reinstall the buckles in their respective storage spots, and the buckles will not fall down. The magnet keeps the larger buckle in place and the stiffness of the seat belt strap keeps the smaller buckle secured in its slot. Ultimately I feel the buckle storage would have been better designed by using a stronger magnet.

Here is how mine is, I have not had a issue with it falling once I got it in there like this. There are two magnets one in the bottom part and one where it sticks in the hole.

Here is another picture with the top part out it only stays if I get the bottom one all the way up then stick the small one in the hole and push it up until it stops.

Same here. Insert the larger of the two buckles into the slot in the holder and the magnet will keep the smaller buckle in place. No issues!

Maybe they changed the strength of the magnets or had a bad batch... Mine just slips back down whenever I hit any types of bumps, regardless of being inserted correctly.

I'll try adding an additional magnet where William suggested when I get them in the mail tonight. My car only has one magnet installed from the factory, not two as Wynomis suggested. Also, only one of my two metal buckle pieces is actually able to stick to a magnet. The larger one sticks, the smaller one does not.

Here’s what’s inside. Looks like a little pressure tab for the smaller buckle blade that goes in the slot. Mine doesn’t apply any pressure. There are some little plastic tabs sticking through to bend back and you should be able to take the part off of the trim piece. I didn’t have time to do it when I pulled the trim piece off today. I think I could bend the plastic tab forward (maybe with some heat applied to make it even better) so that it actually put pressure on the buckle blade. One could possibly glue a magnet on the black pressure tab or to the three plastic tan pieces on the other side. What do you think?

I also noticed my retractor is super strong. It basically sucks the belt off of the internal magnet.

Might as well make it a true duplicate then if I'm already wasting space... They don't trust us lol.

I've tried trimming that small black plastic tab so that it actually fits inside the hole in the seatbelt buckle. It didn't have much of an effect because like you mentioned, there is no "pressure" on the buckle from it. I tried adding some very small screws to pull the tab closer to the buckle so it would apply pressure to the buckle, that also didn't make much of a difference. I have a new rare earth magnet that I've added to the holder but I'm not going to test how it works until the JB weld cures. Because it's cold out, it's slowing down the curing process substantially. Once it cures in a few days, I'll test it again and let everyone know if it worked or not. If it works, both holds the belt and lets you remove it with no ill-effects, I'll post a few pictures showing what I did.

So I found these plastic coated magnets and ordered them a little while back...

I tested which side I need to install it on. They are polarized so you have to flip it to make sure it wants to stick to the magnet thats already installed in the holder. I scored the back of the magnet with a razor knife so it would adhere better. I used JB Weld to bond the magnet in place. After 3 days of letting it cure (because of cold weather), I took some black matte nail polish and painted around the edges of it so you couldn't see where the JB Weld was at the edges.






The seat belt hasn't moved at all since I installed it. I have to call this a total success and it looks like it's OEM. If I didn't tell anyone I put it there, no one would think it didn't come from the factory like that. It's still fully functional. There are no issues with it. My kids are able to pull it off of the magnet, even though it's a few orders of magnitude stronger. My kids are also able to put it back into the holder as well.
