Still using a rotary dial land line instead of a cell phone too? ;-) The oil change indicators on both my Expys have actually treated me well. The 07 hits it right on the 5k mile mark. 216k trouble free miles so far.Pay no attention to that, go by the speedo 125k, 130k, 135k etc. Been doing that since the sixties.
Funny, the speedo hits it right on the mark too and probably more dependable.Still using a rotary dial land line instead of a cell phone too? ;-) The oil change indicators on both my Expys have actually treated me well. The 07 hits it right on the 5k mile mark. 216k trouble free miles so far.
My whole life I've been keeping a log book of all my cars (there have been way too many...) and have religiously written down all my maintenance and mileages. I still do, but having the message pop up so I don't have to keep referring back to my log book or keeping it in the back of my mind to see when I'm due on my daily driver is a big help. With a single vehicle it's not so much of a PITA. Too much crapola to keep track of these days. I have ~20 separate passwords for work... If I thought the reminder wasn't accurate, I wouldn't use it. I know it is from testing it the first year or so, so why not use it?Funny, the speedo hits it right on the mark too and probably more dependable.
Well idk about the 60's or even most of the 70's but I remember 3k was the recommended interval back in the day.Pay no attention to that, go by the speedo 125k, 130k, 135k etc. Been doing that since the sixties.
That's all I did until my 07 Expy. 3k always. OLF.Well idk about the 60's or even most of the 70's but I remember 3k was the recommended interval back in the day.

Some features aren't needed but they are there to sell cars so you might as well plunk that money in the garbage can. " oooh something to tell me what to do"...………..not needed. Often "features" are just one more thing to go bad also.Personally, I like having all the features that I plunked my EARNED money down for to purchase, to work.

Ya for the oil change people but most factories recommended 5k miles back then and later.Well idk about the 60's or even most of the 70's but I remember 3k was the recommended interval back in the day.

Because looking at the speedo it even easier and probably more dependable. 155k 160k 165k 170k 175k Is it really that hard to do?My whole life I've been keeping a log book of all my cars (there have been way too many...) and have religiously written down all my maintenance and mileages. To be honest, that 3k recommendation was from the oil companies....who were selling the oil. Admittedly, back in the 60's and 70s the engines were brutal on oil, and 3k was probably correct. Today, not so much. The engines are better, the oil (additives) are better, fuel is better, filters are better, almost all roads are paved, etc...everything that could negatively impact the oil life has improved. Because of that the frequency of oil changes is extended. That's all I did until my 07 Expy. 3k always. OLF.
Just sayin' I like watching the speedo for changing oil. No text suddenly appearing saying change oil!, change oil!To be honest, that 3k recommendation was from the oil companies....who were selling the oil. In addition, back then you had to prove you kept up with the vehicle maintenance in order to keep your warranty. No records? No warranty. So everybody was keen on getting that oil changed on time or earlier. Even that has changed today.
It might have come from the oil companies, but it was also in all the manuals. I always felt like 3k was a good number. Gave you the warm and fuzzy... Better than what the girl who owned my son's Mustang before him thought.... We don't need to change no steenkeeng oil...To be honest, that 3k recommendation was from the oil companies....who were selling the oil. Sounds like the plan....did you hold it long enough?
After 5 yrs, your software might be a little glitchy, shut down, restart/reboot and see if that fixes it?
