2nd Row Pilot Chair Gap Cargo Safety Issue

What are some tasteful solutions to fill the 2nd row gap?

When I put down my third row to load up cargo, I don't want anything moving between the 2nd row pilot seats if I need to make a sudden stop.

dog blockers will do it.
we have a pup who rides in the back (w/ the 3rd seat down)...ive put moving blankets down (to fill what few gaps their are and to make things a bit more comfortable for her).

I use this pet barrier to keep her behind the 2nd row of captains chair.

The seat gap mesh looks perfect for light duty.

My heavy cargo is usually several wheels with mounted tires weighing around 40-50lbs each plus several tool boxes.

I was thinking a solid piece between the seats to keep things from moving forward and then a mesh cargo net on top for stability.

Is there anything that uses the OEM seat or similar mounting points? Another option might be something solid placed behind the 2nd row pilots and then locking them back against the collapsed 3rd row?

Heavy stuff my old SUV I lashed to the floor using the floor hooks for the 3rd row seats. The Expedition and these fold down 3rd row rigs lack heavy hard points to lash heavy stuff down. I’m still trying to figure out what to do. The stock tie downs aren’t worth squat but they do bolt to solid points so I might replace them with marine grade buckles to lash too.
I did insist on the bench 2nd row this issue being one of several reasons I hate 2nd row captains chairs in SUVS. And I haul 3rd row kids to sports events weekly.

I have CanvasBack liners. I got a piece that bridges the gap and is held in place by velcro. It's not going to stop a ton of bricks, but works well for must stuff and a well mannered dog.

HOPEFULLY its not like the pathetic rear floor pieces in the Ford Explorers and Ford Flex's that all broke in half if even small children walked back there. I was vacuuming my flex and snapped the floor plate right in half. I took them to a machine shop and the guy reinforced them with steel plates and riveted them together. lol

I bought a new 2015 Ford Expedition Limited 4x4, and I was amazed (and very irritated) that Ford did not put ANY cargo tie-downs or provisions for an accessory tie-down or cargo net. I didn’t realize it until after I bought the vehicle and began to use it.

Ford customers seem to brag that Ford is a truck company. I can’t believe the first time a Ford employee used an Expedition with cargo in the back, they didn’t suggest Ford incorporate tie-downs (and a cargo net to prevent the self-unloading of cargo when the hatch is opened).

Stupid design. Yet, my model comes standard with a provision to change the color of the under dash lights. I’d rather have something useful.

I agree - would be nice to have some recessed rings in the floor rather than the cheesy plastic side panels!

I'm not very active over there, especially lately. But we absolutely LOVE the Flex's. I like this expedition, but the Ecoboost Appearance package flex is still pretty impressive! I just love how glued to the road it is!

Nothing fancy but a piece of 4x4 plywood covered in some type of carpet works well. It fits perfectly over the folded second row seats. I did that and it is removable when not in use. Also, it makes it very nice when I have the dog in the back.
