is the navi heavier?

No. The numbers vs the Denali across the board are better. Navi is Lighter, more power, and lower peak Torgue. Wondering if the trans tuning on the GM is better. Plus the Navi needs a little brake boost. Every number I have seen for a Stock Navi should have put it ahead of the Denali. Oh well, real world.

Meaning it’s harder to drive the expy/Navi?

I assume you’re talking about boosting..?

Knowing what settings are best for launching a 7k lb vehicle (is 4x4 really better in "excite"/sport or is normal with 4x2 better?), Traction control on or off?, if they restarted between runs (loss of settings just like they did in their off road review), if they let the truck cool between runs (heatsoak) will greatly effect the Navi but not the denali, if they properly built boost before letting off the brake etc etc....

Anyone ever test heat soak with factory intercooler on these things? The OEM FMIC on my Audi was basically useless after a single pull...

These seem to not be too bad, it took about 3/4 hard 0-60 pulls on a cool(50’s) evening where I could see temps causing timing to be pulled.

On my ST it is 2 MAX before I need to drive steady to cool the charge down. The new Explorer ST’s IC is TERRIBLE!

Too bad ford makes it so difficult to go fast. Cool that you can just mash the Denali pedal and you’re good.

Yeah... 3 pulls in perfect conditions isn't a glowing review, but sounds about right. Are you tuned? If not that will only happen quicker due to the extra boost.

Most factory ICs are painfully under sized. The aftermarket IC on my other car is literally 3x the size of factory and was my first mod along with an intake.

The Denali will have the same options when it comes to traction control, no idea if they have drive modes, allow 4x2 or if it's "full time" awd the only real difference is the heat soak from the turbos.

It doesn’t have drive modes.

Just 4wd, high, low, awd. And of course traction control.

Yeah, on the 4th it was only pulling it a VERY small amount, and did not change 0-60 at all. I am stock now. Tuning coming on Monday for the Expedition.

The ST is running on E50. E50 vs Stock is about the same as far as before I need to cool it down, because the Ethanol evaporative cooling makes up for the heat soak a bit. When I was running a hard 93 tune, timing was being pulled a little at the end of a single 1/4 run. E50, Nope!

The ST’s is undersized and needs a little more air being fed to it too. Working on that.

I would’ve considered it as a stand alone option, against the whole tow pack. At least with the airplane gears it should be offered as stand alone. After driving both a 3.73 truck and a 3.31 or 3.15 version I wouldn’t have the high gears. Just not enough torque to get moving with the higher gear.

I really don’t get any rear drives not having a locker or limited slip as standard. Just doesn’t make sense in anything other than the very very cheapest work truck where they just are trying to sell the most stripped down thing for the least possible. Even then spreading it out over the whole product line should make them cheap enough to be a few pennies.

I think having a reputation as trucks that are hard to get stuck would be worth more than any cost for the parts.

What do you mean sold separately?

The eLSD is part of the HDTT package, or its standard in the FX4. I was wondering why Ford does not sell it as a stand alone feature.

I would rather have a full open diff with the pin lock that will stay engaged at all speeds than this new design. But the Expys are grocery getter family wagons. So I totally get the value of the different drive modes for someone like my wife. I would pay for any type of locking rear diff over a open or limited slip.
