I believe most of the time, the old adage that you get what you pay for. Being their gold they should have better braking than their silver or basic pads. Personally, I have used them in the past and never had a issue of their fault. That being said, most problems are from installations of pads by do it yourselfers, without the proper knowledge necessary. Nothing against do it yourselfers, I am one, but they may overlook other essential components of the braking system such as cylinders, drums, rotors, calipers, fluid flushes, hoses, lines, valves, sensors and other hardware that may need service or replacement also.

I'm ordering up the Power Stop Z36 rotor and pad kit for my '03 in the next couple days. Not cheap but has excellent feedback around here and other forums along w tons of positive reviews. It's likely overkill for me but it may be the last set I put on here. If not, will be another data point for someone else to see if the value is there or not.

Tires as well. I've ran plenty of cheap tires when younger and wow, what a difference a couple hundred bucks makes. Crazy we try to cheap out on something that usually lasts a few years at the least. Obviously I know budget is a thing but if you can skimp anywhere else other than brakes and tires to make those 2 things as great as you can its money well spent as they are 2 of the primary things that decide your fate when it comes to control.
I have used their heavy duty kits (pads,rotors,clips, etc.) on my '09 Expy many times and I have never had a problem. I once tried the drilled and slotted rotors, but I didnt realize any advantages to the holes/slots. I tow a 30' camper that is over 7,000# and have been through the smokies several times, but I have not gone to the Rockies until the first weekend in July.

These are the ones I am using and luv them. First thing I did after I bought the truck was the brakes. Tires came next.

Good to hear another positive endorsement. I have decent rubber on here currently, especially for the seaaon though I will be due this winter. They will probably get replaced a little early though. If I wasnt off for several weeks and still working a reduced schedule I'd been right on track for replacement probably the first part of Nov. I dont feel like chancing winter w 4/32 which is where I'll probably end up by christmas at this rate of wear. If I try this will be the year it actually snows. If I buy new itll be 60 or something else freakish. Can't win either way so might as well have new rubber in both instances right? Better than sliding into a ditch or worse. If they still have some meat I'll probably bag and save them for someone. I know quite a few people in this platform, in laws have an 03 expy, cousin drives an f150, friend has one as well. Only just over 3yrs old on DOT code so they'll store for a good while in a climate controlled garage.
Jegs priced matched advance for me, got them ordered for 375 shipped. Advance was out a couple weeks due to special order item. Its probably about a wash price wise to RA and didnt have to fuss w a rebate. Rockauto shipping can get salty at times too. Last time I ordered from them I had to pay 3 different ship charges from different locations. Ended up being $43 in shipping on a $250 order. Essentially eroded any savings I had.
I gave the brand new O'Reilly store they built a couple minutes from my house a chance and the guy quoted me over $530 and when I asked about a better price he chuckled. I said ok, here's what I'm going to pay from somewhere else, if you'd have at least tried and maybe split the difference I'd have bought from you but you had to have an ego. The $ I also save by purchasing there I'm going to spend somewhere else other than here. Good luck on your first month of business...

I've used many cheap Chinese brake pads. They worked, but wore quickly. Or they made lots of dust and wore out the rotors. Or they squealed like a pig. Sometimes I had to grind them down to get them to fit. Got the cheap crap I paid for. Garbage.

I'm definitely not after any of that business. I've done that route before andd a little extra $ w stimulus and was fortunate enough to work through it all for the most part. I'm ready to do the work and just drive and hopefully come to a stop.

My experience with PowerStop is that they are the same Chinese pads sold at AutoZone put in colorful boxes, sold with Chinese rotors that are cut a second time here in the USA to get the wobble out. Your experience may be different. Let me know.

I used the powerstop kit with hawk pads, might be why I like them so much.

Hadn't considered hawk, I guess I didnt really think about performance aftermarket too much only because I'm just looking for something slightly better than stock. I used to run the HPS pads w C5 Z06 calipers and they were great. Used to really screw w the counter guys when I drive up in a buick and need vette pads.

I've loved the Hawk pads. They were the only ones that didn't give trouble on my Excursion.

I've used Wagner OEX pads on two vehicles and I liked them a lot. Good stopping power with minimal brake dust and wear great. I will admit that I didn't tow "heavy" with them for any prolonged trips, but when I did tow, they were more fade-resistant than the stock pads that came with the vehicles.
