Rollover

I knew a guy that rolled an old Suburban and the roof was smashed all the way to the steering wheel. He lived because he wasn't wearing his seatbelt and was thrown in the back.
I'm suprized at how well the Expy held up. I bought my '04 because it had the best crash test ratings that year. After seeing that video I with I had the side impact airbags.

Install some NASCAR style window nets and everyone would have been fine :D

As for the truck.... I don't think that's going to buff out.

There is always someone out there that "lived through the accident only because I didn't have my seatbelt on".

Well guess what -- they are the exception. Most of the real live dummies that drive without a seatbelt are a whole lot more likely to die in a crash.

Guess that's why they are so proud when they survive. Kind of like playing Russian Roulet and then bragging that a loaded revolver is perfectly safe when fired against your head, so long as it has only one bullet.....

You 04 didn't come with the roof airbags that deploy in a rollover? I thought they were standard?

EDIT:
As always, there's this vid. Don't think it's an Expy (maybe Jeep?)

wow

Wow. That was pretty serious. I wonder what in realy life would be able to cause the Expedition to flip like that. The little thing carring it already had it tilted pretty good before it stopped. I don't think much out there can cause the SUV to flip like that. All and all I'd say the truck held up pretty good for being flipped 5 or so times.

To roll like that you'd have to be broad-sided by something huge, or maybe run over a land mine. That was intense, but I couldn't help laughing when the dummies went flying everywhere!

Amazing

I thought that the roof would have caved in even more than it did. Pretty sound structure to take that kind of force.

That's what I looked for most in a rollover...the roof collapse.
Seems that it did pretty well there.
