Yea, I'm not a fan of high priced tires, they all do pretty much the same thing.

Where is the silver bullet with the Mich's ? Kryptonite cords? Space age rubber? Tungsten belt? I think everyone is swayed by the tons of ads they did in the last 50 years. Kinda' like the Rolex watch, my Timex does everything quite well and looks just fine. Are they the only ones that know how to make tires?.............. will never buy them.

Try them. They are like a Rolex...high end. Try a Rolex and if one was given to you the Timex would be retired just like my Seiko was 35 years ago. True there is crafty marketing going on and that is why Rolex wandered from their roots to being known as a luxury line now. I own their "tool" watches for the profession I work in not for the name.

I have the defenders on there now because they were on there when I bought it, and they don't know their days are numbered.....lol. "Mich because so much is riding on your tires". So much rode on my Hankooks for years too and they were just fine.

Good info here and very much appreciated. How do the Michelins do for towing? Thinking they might be a solid replacement for my current tires.

LT vs passenger is what counts for towing.
Tried the LT version for a week....terrible changed back to passenger. Even with the properly adjusted new PSI the LT ride was way too harsh. LT must run at a higher pressure than passenger to carry the same load rating.

I agree, just sayin' LT is great for towing but it's a trade off for a rougher ride.

I am on my 3rd Expedition. We bought a 2000 Eddie Bauer in 2000, sold at 160,000 miles in 2010 when we bought a 2007 Eddie Bauer. Bought a 2014 Exp. Limited a month ago and sold the 2007 at 159,000 miles. We put Michelins on my '83 Mustang and loved it, on our 1993 Sedan de Ville and loved the ride, on my husband's 4WD 1998 Lariat, twice, and loved the ride, then on the 2000 EB and twice on the 2007 EB. I prefer Michelins. My 2014 has fairly new Pirellis and they ride fine, but, as soon as they begin to wear, am planning on Michelins. Michelins have good sales a couple times a year, and that's when I talk turkey with the tire dealers. One thing I can tell you is that on the 2007 EB, I had no idea I was supposed to replace tire pressure sensors every so often until one went about 6 months ago when my dash lit up. Pretty sure it was the first ever set replaced on that SUV. In all that time, and all those vehicles, with Michelins, we never had a tire issue. Not tire pressure issues, not a flat or a tread problem; not a one. I did hear a rumor that certain wholesale stores have tire prices that consistently beat the tire dealers and it is supposedly because the tires at the wholesale store are not the same quality. I don't know if that is true even though I heard it in passing at a garage. We have always gone to a dealer we trusted. Hope this is useful!

In the good old days, folks bought a truck because it had uses other than just transportation and they expected the ride to be harsher and noisier than a car...So, if you want a big car for comfortable transportation, buy passenger car rated tires for your Expy...But if you want to tow and haul stuff, buy LT rated tires...Me, I have Falken Wildpeak A/T's and my towing life is real good...

After a week of driving..Unbelievable difference.. I thought my front end was all out of whack, when it was just replacing the tires.

I came to the Forum to investigate the problematic Toyo tires on my 2020 Expedition. I have owned Expeditions 98, 03, 07, 11, 17 and now 20. My history with new vehicles and tires started in 84. After seeing various tire manufacturers on both my wife's vehicles and my own I have had the most success with Michelin. I have had to buy most but not all of my vehicles with an inferior tire to the Michelin brand and then replace with a Michelin. I do not understand why some manufacturers equip a quality new vehicle with a less than quality tire. Buy a quality Michelin tire when you can, …your life will be happier!

To save money and I don't agree the that any one tire is better than all the rest. I bought this new truck with Michs on it and don't see any silver bullet here. I won't waste money on them next time.

Let me put it this way. I have had to replace the tires I received on a total of 6 new vehicles anywhere from 26 to 38 thousand miles. I replaced them with Michelins and received from minimum of 66 to a maximum of 79 thousand miles of use per set. The 6 cheap sets of new car tires acquired 9 punctures compared to a total of 4 flats on 10 sets of Michelin tires that I have owned. I can easily say I have saved hundreds of real dollars overall with the included the cost of replacement and repair, not to mention reduction of my time and inconvenience of visits to the tire store. Good quality tires actually save money, time, and frustration. "…your life will be happier!"
