So I was driving on the freeway going about 65mph. “Parking Brake Engaged” came on the message center and the Parking Brake light came on the dash (we rarely use our parking brake). So I exited and started applying the brakes. Brake pedal was rock hard and felt as if the ABS was engaged. I checked all the calibers and discs and everything seems to be in order. Turned the vehicle off and waited for about 10 minutes and started the vehicle. Now everything seems to be fine.

Any input and suggestions will be greatly appreciate.

Do you have the hill start assist feature or just an e-brake?

You could have the vehicle scanned by a Ford dealer for any fault codes, including the ABS unit.
