Hi Everyone,

New to this forum. Just bought an ‘18 MAX XLT with HD Tow, FX4, roof, etc.
The window sticker shows it to be a “regular” expedition and even shows the gas mileage for the regular expedition.
I bought it sight unseen from a dealer in Texas and it is as nice as they said.
However, I did not know it was a MAX until it arrived yesterday. We are good with that though because they are usually more expensive and we could use the extra room.
Has anyone had their window sticker/VIN be “wrong” in terms of what it communicates to Ford’s systems?
Just curious and thanks for your input.

You should compare the VIN of the vehicle you bought with the on line window sticker - however, more importantly, you should compare the VIN of the vehicle you’re buying with the one listed on the sales contract and the eventual vehicle title you’ll receive.

Thank you both. The VIN on the contract, the window sticker, and the vehicle all match.
it was a Ford Dealer and is Certified so they at least checked a few things out.
Maybe the Ford database is incorrect?

You probably know more than I do. Assuming there is a database of VINs somewhere. What are your thoughts on the scenario above?

The only thing I (think I) could figure out is you have a Max that has a window sticker that says is not a Max and that makes no sense. But the VIN on the window sticker matches the vin on the vehicle. Something doesnt add up here. Can you post a pic of the window sticker?

Is is the original Ford factory window sticker, or one prepared by the dealership's used car lot? It could simply be that the vehicle description doesn't automatically populate based on VIN.

Most of the VIN decoders no longer function unless you pay a fee. Here's one that's free

Here you go. The vehicle should have a “K” in the VIN and it has a “U”. The sticker shows the base price of a non-Max truck as well.

Can you post a picture of the whole side of the vehicle? Somebody could have installed the max bage on a standard wheelbase.

To add, the sticker on the driver side door jam with the tire PSI states the wheelbase measurement. A Max =132 and a standard base = 123. This is how much room a max has in the back see pics
