I put a Detroit TrueTrac in my 2000 F150 at 240k miles. It has the 8.8 though. I can't even tell it's back there in the dry.

We completely rebuilt the rear diff. I have the 9.75 LSD. Also did the axle bearings and seals while there.
I’m breaking it in slowly and gently. Just up to 200 miles on break in. After 500 I’ll switch to Amsoil fluid and put a new diff cover.
I burned up the diff w constant high speed driving for hours on a daily basis in 95 degree weather. The oil should have held up better it only had less than 70k miles since last change. I won’t use motorcraft oils anymore. They offer the minimum protection for factory specs. I’m sure it’s fine for the suburban soccer mom wagon use but for heavy duty both the motor oil and gear oil is subpar.

I did several other things. Rear axle seals. Whole new diff. Replaced gas tank straps. $1800.
It still looks over $1K for the diff.

Yes. Parts and labor. Parts including both pinion and ring gears which actually looked fine. It was a couple bearings.
