Good Morning
I have a 2012 EL Limited 4X4 with 142,000 on it. I stepped on the gas pedal harder than usual to merge onto the freeway. almost immediately, the truck shuttered and the check engine light came on. I got off the gas instantly and the light went off and the truck ran fine the rest of the trip. Although single occurrence happened a week ago, the light has stayed off and it has run fine every since. (Have not aggressively accelerated since)
I'm the second owner if this Expedition so I don't know the service record. I have a Motorcraft Fuel Pump on the way next week. Before I drop the tank, I want to look into changing the fuel filter first. I'm told that the filter is located on the inside of the frame directly below the center of the drivers side passenger door. I've looked all along the frame from front to back and see nothing. Its so tight between the tank and the frame below the door that there's no room for a filter anyway. Is there a possibility that this filter is located on top of the tank or worse yet, inside the tank? Thank you in advance for taking the time to help with this.
