2nd row climate control removal

So, my 2022 Platinum Max has a build week of 13-Jun (next week, knock on wood). The Ford Order Tracking site shows that the 2nd row climate controls have been removed. My question is will the panel will be replaced with a blank and the wiring harness behind it will be there if I want to add it later? I'm thinking of asking my sales rep to order the 2nd row climate controls, then install it when it arrives at the dealer. Ford/Lincoln must have spares for repairs, right? I would expect that Navigators are getting the 2nd row climate controls due to their luxury status. I tried searching the Lincoln Navigator forum but didn't find anything relating to the Navigator 2nd row climate controls being removed. Tried the Lincoln Navigator Build-Your-Own and its hard to tell if 2nd row climate controls are there - there is no option to delete it or not include it. So, I'm guessing that the Navigators are being built with the climate controls. I can live without the other options being removed so far but not ever having the 2nd row controls are on the edge of being a deal breaker for me. I can handle delivery without the controls if they will be installing them at a later (probably much later) date.

BUILD UPDATE 09-Jun 16:55 MT: just looked at the Ford Tracking and ordertrack.app and they both show my Expy in Production.

You can still control it using the front center screen, but I understand your frustration.

I would ask the sales rep to confirm with the factory that the wiring harness and any required modules will be there. The switch panel should be easy to install.

Ford has stated the controls will be retrofitted at a later date. If you need it ASAP I’d look for a wrecked one to remove the controls from to install yourself. You won’t have any luck ordering through your parts department if manufacturing can’t get enough of them for assembly. My guess is the control panel isn’t any different from 2020-2022, not sure what “chips” are missing to control the system though.

Unless things have changed, the initial removal of the rear climate/heated seats controls included a retro-fit by a Ford dealer when the controls are available, which initially Ford said 12-18 months.

I'd cancel the order if they deleted all that stuff. No thanks.

I just bought a 22 Chrysler Pacifica Van and Chrysler is "soon" pulling 8-10 features from them because they can't get the parts. WTF, then close down if you losers can't get parts. They relied on all these other countries to source their stuff and now they whine like nobody saw this coming....

I just bought a 22 Chrysler Pacifica Van and Chrysler is "soon" pulling 8-10 features from them because they can't get the parts. WTF, then close down if you losers can't get parts. They relied on all these other countries to source their stuff and now they whine like nobody saw this coming....
It is not just the car industry. I work in the Tech World and the delays on routers, switches, wi-fi access points, and high end servers is crazy. Some devices are now 240+ days until available. In the last 2-3 months, those numbers have doubled.

The strain from the Work From Home workforce has created the need to replace devices in order to keep up with the additional capacity needs from the Internet Providers. Additionally, the migration to the cloud for commerical business and Government agancies is pushing the infrastructure needs at places like Microsoft, Amazon, Google, Salesforce, Box, etc. It's not like these companies can just say "f' it" we can't get the stuff so we will just let our customers suffer. Who cares if they complain."

Oh, and one more tid-bit. Most Goverment agencies need to abide by the Trade Agreements Act (TAA) where equipment MUST be US made or an approved non US country only. These are usually even LONGER timeframes because we can't manufacture them as quickly as some other countries.

UPDATE: Got my window sticker and it shows the removal of 2nd row climate controls. Called by sales rep and he confirmed that it is a 'we owe' item and has a form I need to sign saying that the vehicle will not have the climate controls and they will install them once they get them in 6 - 9 months. I can work with that.

I can work with that.

Right, and in the meantime you can control the rear climate from the front controls.

I hear that. But what are people/companies doing about it? I'd hazard a guess at nothing or very little. We have a need for servers at our place of work. We, the bottom guys need them to perform a job. we can't even innovate a solution because, as we go up the chain, 'that not our standard practice'.

I have the same feelings. But don't worry, when demand slows a bit, the real pain will come for them. Greed has consequences. When you try to squeeze every dollar out of something, eventually things go south. All those components could have been made here.

But instead THEY chose to buy cheap junk from China and POCKET the additional savings VS buying stuff here in the US. That should have been limited years ago, but it wasn't, so here we are being China's B***h.

Unless the new vehicle purchase is required (ie no existing vehicles or replacing a wrecked one) I would hold off as long as possible on getting something new. Having a bunch of “we owe” paperwork just sounds like waiting indefinitely for the part(s), then waiting for a service appointment along with everyone else that also have the we owe stripped down models.
My experience and opinion it’s not worth the hassle/frustration. But that’s just me, to each their own.

Heck I can’t even get a service appointment for a month out on my 19 that was built pre-pandemic on things that should be working.

I ordered a Platinum in December that is also scheduled the week of June 13. Back in March, I had the dealer check and they assured me the Multi-Contour Massage seats were still “in the build”. Now that my Window sticker is finally available. It shows the massage seats as removed with a $300 credit. Two texts to my salesman have gone unanswered. Ford charges $575 to add massage seats (which are apparently available) in the second row of Navigators, but only credits $300 to remove them in Expeditions. If this is temporary, a will be installed in 3 months, that’s one thing.
If not, its starting to look like there may be a Denali Ultimate in my future.
Six months order time and they arbitrarily remove features they still sell in other cars.
Not saying I’ll never buy another Ford. But I won’t be ordering, if it’s not on the dealers lot, there are other car companies.
I’m thinking someone at Ford seriously misjudged this.

I'm in the exact same boat. Unfortunately. Our plat max will also be missing the active park assist and the hands free rear lift gate. Without these standard platinum features is it really a platinum anymore?

First, they are not exclusive to the Platinum.

Last, both are features that I have zero use for so I would not have minded if mine were not included. LOL

Same here. I talked to my sales rep about the Multi-Contour seats and they are permanently removed, no to-be-added-later situation. The rear climate controls will get their chip in 6 - 9 months. I figure they are putting what MCM seats they have in the Navigators.

If you have kids, you don't want those controls anyway. I have a button pusher that sits in the second row. I'll send you my panel. Ha! Wish it wasn't there.
