I am still real happy with my kenwood ddx-514. It is an older unit now, but it is double din (not flip)and does not have nav. As far as kenwood goes I am real happy and they definitely have nav units also. Not sure what year expy you are getting - but if you could get in a double din - I would suggest it over a flip out. Less moving parts and stuff protruding from the dash. Good luck and enjoy shopping - I learned a lot looking around, things changed a lot since I was in that business, Mike.

Yep Pioneer is the way to go.

Pioneer is the way to go, as you have already heard. I personally picked a different unit than the other users but built in bluetooth seems like great investment. Originally I picked the AVH-P3200BT because it adds bluetooth to the AVH-P4200DVD , but I went a different route just because most phones have turn by turn direction now and the kids can use portable dvd players for longer trips. Video just seemed to much of a cost to me! Definitely go Pioneer!!

flip outs have more moving parts to wear out. if the screen is up or at an angle while hitting bumps on the road the gears are taking that impact. after time they will start to make noise while going in and out, rattling while driving down the road and then just fail and need service. for folks that only have room for a single din flip out its their only choice. so if you can fit a double din, do it.

Is flip out bad? I see most say no flip out...

I personally think flips look tacky... Youll end up with extra space under the unit when you could just add a DD 7" Unit and it will look flush and like it was supposed to be there. And like said before... Less moving parts.
I have used a few Kenwood units for video/ Navi and was always pleased. I would probably consider Alpine's new 7" if I was going to start again.

really??? if u live in a place where u have 2 go 2 those extremes...y change da HU...tint ur windows...invest in a good alarms system...might as well have remote start with it for $100 more...

If the theif wants it they will get it. I actually used to have a flip up Kenwood unit in my 99 Mustang. Tinted windows, 2 Way Viper Security System, the whole 9. The Kenwood unit at the time had a seperate unit that controlled everything and was hidden under the carpet somewhere. The trunk was completely custom done and somehow, these clows broke in and got everything, including the "brain" which there were only 2 people who knew where it was located.
Long story short, get a good DD headunit/ monitor and let your insurance company know what you got... Thanksfully my insurance covered everything including cost of install which alone was $2000

well...seems like u know who did it...sounds like a setup to me...if only 2 people knew where the brains were...things that make you go "hmmmmm"...

u right...if they want it they'll take it...but unless they absolutely know whats in there's...or seen u bass'n out...tint'd windows will deter thieves...unless ur a mark...i use 2 b a thief...so when i constantly see someone always ride'n bump'n their music...they go on da 'JACK' list...now if they actually get jack'd is the question...not 2 many arent able 2 answer that question with a no...back in the day

Alpine used to make something like that too.
All this talk about DVD units is making me hungry. Does anyone know if there are any that come with TV Tuners? My Kenwoods all did but not sure if others made it an option. I really could have used it last night to watch some games on my break.
