I know my 2019 has the actual physical button and that was one feature I specifically wanted given getting stuck with these big SUVs is almost always a x up situation. Yes its a get unstuck button.

Having said that!! I recall reading somewhere that Ford changed the system in 21 or 22 likely tied to the driving mode selection and traction management making it a full integrated deal vs a manually activated thing. I know that they had cases where the old center console button was hit by stuff set on the console and people burned up the rear diff not realizing the locker was on. That’s likely why the physical button isn’t there today but the driving mode likely uses it when wheel spin is detected in say mud and ruts mode etc.
I don't see a button on my 2019 Platinum. I have the heavy duty tow package on a 2WD, with the controls on the dash for steering and brakes. t would be nice to enable and disable the limited slip at certain times.

Okay, new information. I just went onto a “build” on Fords site. The package that includes the Electronic Limited Slip axle is only available on All Wheel Drive. I do not have all wheel drive. It does say that with my equipment it has 3.73 non limited slip.

To me the real issue is that it says I have the 3L axle, and as you can see in the screen shot I posted a few posts back they don’t even show 3L For 2023s, but I clearly have 3L. But EVERYTHING I have found that does reference 3L says it is 3.73 limited slip.

I am coming to grips with the fact that I probably don’t have it, which is disappointing. I can’t blame Ford because when I bought it nothing indicated that it had it. But I find the entire issue confusing and I can blame Ford for providing poor and confusing info.

Thank you for all the responses. I’m grateful to know that this forum has folks who are knowledgable and know what I’m talking about. I’ve been a serious Gearhead for about 55 years!

The ELSD is always active and you can't turn it off via the dash button. The button allows you to lock the clutches to simulate a rear locker though it can be overcome by torque. I'm assuming that is what you meant but wanted to clarify for others that may read this thread.

Thanks. What I meant is I have no button. I do have tow modes of Slippery, Trail, Deep Snow and Sand, and Tow/Haul.
Maybe the button is only available for 4WD. Mine is 2WD with the heavy-duty tow package, that has the limited slip 3.73, heavy duty radiator, tranny cooler and dash trailer controls.

Interesting that you know you have Limited Slip on a rear drive and I can’t find in the online build that it’s available on the 2023.

I am going to continue to pursue this if only because inquiring minds want to know, and I’m retired and have nothing better to do.

I see. Now that is interesting. I don't see why you couldn't have the locker button on a 2WD. Perhaps others on here know why.

Where is the location of your locker button and is yours 4WD or 2WD?
4WD and located under the shift knob (see pic):
