Passanger Door rattling/squeaking Noice

I have annoying squicking sound which seems to be coming from the front passenger door when I drive over bumps. Anyone else experience this? Any recommendations?

The dealer told me to make an appointment and leave the vehicle for a few days. I am not sure when I will get to this, so I want to try figure it out in the meantime. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

If you want to diagnose it yourself, you could park in a quiet spot (garage?), open the door and slowly and methodically push on the door panel to locate the squeak.

If you can’t find it - I would lube the door latch and striker post, and the door check strap and hinges. Then operate the door several times.

Check the rubber accordion conduit that is between the A-pillar and the door. Some are fastened with a “press fit” and no fasteners, when it connects to the A-pillar. Ensure the conduit is seated and not torn.

You may want to use silicone dielectric grease (sold in most auto part stores in a small tube) to lube the various door weatherstips.

All of this will take a short amount of time. If you locate the squeak in the door panel, it MAY be a fastener behind that is not fully seated.

While the car was running, pushing on the trim while the door was closed caused the door to unlock and running boards to deploy. Does this mean I have an issue with my door lock?

What portion of the trim panel were you pushing on which caused the door to unlock?

I found that the top trim panel has a fair bit of play (more than the driver door). Pressing along the top near the manual button unlocked the car and deployed the running boards.

Did you buy the vehicle new? It looks as though the inner door panel has previously been removed, and not installed properly? Any warranty repairs?

Our 2022 does the same on most doors. With the doors closed, I can push down on the exterior handle and can hear the creak. I’m fairly certain it’s the latch/striker that are creaking and all bolts are tight. Just haven’t taken a chance to lube all the latches/strikers yet but I’m hoping that does the trick. Super annoying as everything else is solid (outside of an intermittent rattle in the driver wheel well that my parents’ 2020 KR also has).

Bought it new. No work was done on the vehicle. Only had the front windows tinted.

I wonder if the tint installer used a trim tool to bend back the top of the inner door panel, so the window tint would be below the glass line on the door panel - causing the issue?

I thought about the tinting installer but since I did it months ago, it will be hard to prove anyting. It was a reputable shop that I used before with nonproblems. At this point, I will let the dealer look at it when I go for next service and see what they will say.

After a couple of months of ownership of my 2023 Timberline I started to get the squeaky passenger door and have tried the door tap/pounding method to find it with no luck. Yesterday while driving and the light squeak was almost constant I reached over and grabbed the overhead grab handle (not the one on the A-Pillar) and the squeaking stopped and has not returned. Not saying it won’t return, but I am very relieved I found the cause of the noise my station wagon is making. Wanted to post this so others with the same problem can give it a try. I have overhead grab handles above all doors except the drivers, so not sure what other trim levels have.

It seems that that it is in fact the overhead passanger grab bar that causes the squeak. The is some sort of clanking sound when I pull on it but the squeaking stops. Thanks for sharing your experience - it solved my mystery!!

Have a brand new 2023 Limited Stealth Edition (Purchased 11/07/23). Tonight, Wife noticed the squeaky passenger door as well.

Item #3 to add to list for dealer when I take it in tomorrow morning.

1. Liftgate rattling/misaligned.
2. Running boards extended time to retract not working.
3. Squeaky passenger door.

I love Expeditions as I still have my 04 XLT. But I’m concerned with my issues and other issues like the door as it appears to be quality issues in production.

The nice bells and whistles are nice but a quality built truck throughout is also a must!!

Lift-gate fixed. Panel was not clipped in correctly and they had to add spacers. No more noise.

Door is still and issue that my wife hears but I do not. Rode with tech and they could not hear it either…. I will try some on the lubing suggestions I saw here….

Any update on this? I bought a 2022 Limited, and I have a horrific squeak coming from the same area when I go over cracks, bumps, uneven surface. ITS ANNOYING! I thought it was around the passenger front seat belt area. So, I removed the trim to gain access to that area and there is a black plastic piece that holds the upper trim panel together that i insulated and still have the noise. Today at lunch, I noticed my passenger overhead grab handle was loose, tried to tighten and it won't tighten. So, I removed it completely to see if noise eliminates on my way home. But when I did try and tighten it and then grab it, when it moved it made a terrible sound, similar to what I am hearing.
